I have used these for years when working with school aged-kids. I would sometimes sit on the scooter (I weigh over 160lbs) and hold a kid in my lap (usually around 60-70 lbs) and never had any problems other than it being more difficult to roll around. I'd say the ideal weight for good rolling on smooth surfaces is under 100 lbs.

I use my son's sometimes and I'm over 200 lbs and it's fine.

Use your discretion.... Obviously, this is a small piece of plastic with wheels can easily support a normal child but not a 250 pound football player on a daily basis....
