Outstanding!,

This review is from: Desert Airliners (Paperback)
One of the few airliner books that truly lives up to it's billing! A sad, but wonderful set of sequences showing the birds of the desert in their various stages of storage. Included with each shot is a small history of the particular aircraft and its history. A must-have for the collector.

The sadness of a fall.,
This review is from: Desert Airliners (Paperback)
To the people who loves aircraft, this book causes an irrepressible wish to save of all the aircraft that are pictured in it. Do you want to know the fate of that aircraf that you saw when you were only a child?. Here it is. It' sad but it's hopeless. The book for all who want to "feel" the soul of the steel birds.

Excellent photography, and outstanding narrative. Mr. Robson has left the reader with a sense of anguish knowing that these once proud airplanes have finally been bound to the earth forever, dying, slowly. Every airplane lover will shed a tear I'm sure.

The title of this book refers to the desert storage sites where aircraft are retired to either to be scrapped or to be stored awaiting future use. Also new aircraft will sometimes be delivered while their new owners don't need them. This book is of the mid-90s so you get to see many unusual types not found nowdays outside of museums in the storage areas. Personally I would love to see an update book published. It would be neat to see a book like this every 10 years or so showing what's been retired and now in storage. All in all if you can find a copy pick one up. Very good photos thoughout!

Did you ever wonder what happens to airliners that are no longer in use? Then you are in for a real suprise. When you see airliners in dismantling yards its a sight you wont comprehend.
For those of us who love the Jetliner's this is a great book but a little bit sad seing the demise of old favourites.Even brand new aircraft being stored as airline companies canceled orders. I highly recommend this book to all aviation enthusiast. |
