REAL PAGE TURNER,
By
This review is from: Desert Blood 10pm/9c (Paperback)
Fast read for an adult. Page turner for young adults. Ron makes you ask all the who/what/where/why/how questions and then brings you all the answers. No details unaddressed. Will recommend to the at-risk teens I mentor. Eagerly waiting for next book in the series.

Genuine page turner,
By
This review is from: Desert Blood 10pm/9c (Paperback)
The author was extremely kind to send me a copy of his book before publication. It is an absolutely gripping page turner. The action is compelling and there was no telling what was coming next. The action just keeps on coming. I am a fifty-year-old mother of a twelve-year-old boy and we both enjoyed this book thoroughly. I loaned the book to a 62-year-old male co-worker who also had the experience of not being able to put the book down. This is a book that can be enjoyed by everyone.

The Next Teen Mystery Series?,
By
This review is from: Desert Blood 10pm/9c (Paperback)
Growning up I owned the entire Nancy Drew series and could hardly wait until the next one was released. Ron Cree's first book makes me think this could be the next exciting series to those of us who love mysteries. This updated, trendy plot and characters gave me the excitement and thrill I haven't experienced in a teen mystery since the days of Nancy, Bess and George. I've given a copy to both my nieces and nephews and they are new fans as well! It's nice to see a book that can be enjoyed by boys that didn't have the Nancy Drew advantage growing up!

Very Easy Read - leaves you wanting more!,
By
This review is from: Desert Blood 10pm/9c (Paperback)
The book takes you in and doesn't let you go. I found my self wanting to find out what was going to happen and hoping that all the characters would be ok. Gus is a great character, however, I did find him to act a bit older then his age on occassion, but he is a smart kid. I liked this book alot and really am looking forward to the second book, hopefully coming out soon. I would definately say a great book for a teen to read as well as all ages.

Perfect Choice For My Son,
By Lorraine Williams (Des Moines, IA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Desert Blood 10pm/9c (Paperback)
My son is 13 years old and spends most of his time in bookstores looking at comics and graphic novels. He stays away from the teen section and its overly pink selection of books featuring Gossip Girls, Girls with Traveling Pants, and anything with the words boyfriend, kitten, or love in the title. He doesn't like fantasy or magic or psychic powers. So when he picked up this book and didn't immediately put it back down, I quickly bought it. Sure, the flames and blood and sexy women on the cover may seem over-the-top to many of us, but it worked with my son.
I took a look at it while he was in school, and I didn't put it down until the last page. It really is that good. It is full of action, surprises, and has a great mystery that I couldn't figure out. He read it in three days and has been bugging me for more like it. This is one of those rare books that you can actually read and enjoy with a kid who doesn't even like books. There is nothing embarrassing about it and the central story revolving around a father and his son is portrayed with obvious care and love, without being too mushy as to be a turn-off. If this book isn't already a hit, it deserves to be.

Son Stays up Until 11pm Reading This Book,
By
This review is from: Desert Blood 10pm/9c (Paperback)
I have a 14-year old boy who doesn't like to read. After I got done reading this book, I gave it to him. He started it, and about half-way through, he couldn't put it down. I saw the light on in his room at 11pm, and what was he doing - reading this book! He has NEVER done this before. I thank you, Ron, for having such insight into this age level, and for putting forth all the effort into writing this book.

I really enjoyed reading the book. I especially enjoyed how well the characters were introduced. I felt like I knew each of them very well after a few pages.

Great Summer Read,
By
This review is from: Desert Blood 10pm/9c (Paperback)
This book is a fun read.
The author has the ability of offering up enough clues to keep me anticipating and guessing the outcome but not enough information to give it away. The ending had a surprising twist and I was engaged throughout the book. This is the perfect summer read - easy yet entertaining. |
