It seems to leave my teeth feeling cleaner than the 'corporate' toothpastes I was using before. It tastes just fine, and I am getting curious about the ginger flavor they offer, too. Also, being made in the USA is definitely a plus, and Desert Essence seems to be a private company, ie, not owned by a huge corp, 2 issues which are very important to me lately. Thumbs up.

Only toothpaste I'll use since last few years!,
This review is from: Desert Essence - Tea Tree Oil & Neem Toothpaste/Wintergreen, 6.25 oz toothpaste (Health and Beauty)
I've never had a toothpaste as effective as this one. I typically don't have the best results in taking care of my teeth - often a cleaning at the dentist turns into a blood-bath and have even required scaling to deep-clean. I have had remarkable results using this toothpaste - my teeth ALWAYS feel like they do when I leave the dentist for a cleaning (minus the pain and swelling....) - always smooth and clean. I haven't needed scaling in several years and haven't developed a single cavity in the few years since I've been using this. It has a very mild flavor and a different consistency than most toothpastes, but it is very pleasant and clean-tasting. In fact, I've never much cared for "regular" toothpaste flavors that are much too overpowering imo. I do use a mechanical toothbrush as well, which may also account for my great checkups lately, but other family (those who don't use this paste)that have the mechanical toothbrushes also have not had as good results as I have, so I'm convinced it's this paste, especially since they truly always do feel clean after I brush. I wish it were not so expensive, but you get what you pay for in this case! I didn't have another tube on hand after my last one ran out so I've had to use a trial size of arm and hammer that I had and already I can feel the plaque piling up on there after just 2 days. I'll never not have a back-up tube again!!

I haven't found any natural non-flouride toothpaste I would rather use, or one that is significantly cheaper.

I got the short end of the stick when it came to dental health genetics. I'm 28 years old & I've had THREE root canals in the last 5 years. Believe me, it is not for lack of personal hygiene! I've been brushing 3 times per day, flossing twice per day & using Listerine Total Care w/ fluoride (in addition to PerioGuard, a Rx mouthwash) for years! However, I've still continuously needed scaling procedures at my (now)quarterly cleanings. I've also had antibiotic powders injected into the pockets of my gums that pre-periodontal disease has provided. How did I stumble upon this product? Well, recently I've read up on raw vegan diets, & have always appreciated 'natural' or 'holistic' remedies for different ailments, where I discovered this alternative product! It just never felt right to me that they always wanted to push more pharmaceuticals into my mouth. There are, after all, people living in third world countries that have never even brushed their teeth that have mouths in better condition than mine. I know this product is not completely 'natural' & may not be up to the standards of the purest of granolas. Yes, there are some chemical ingredients. In my opinion, this is besides the point because I needed a SOLUTION! I've put a lot of hours into caring for my teeth & it wasn't getting me anywhere. I've been thoroughly frustrated that every "new" tube of toothpaste, cleaning gadget, high tech dental floss and Rx mouthwash was one more dead end. Thank goodness I found this toothpaste!! I used it for 1 month before my next cleaning/pre-periodontal maintenance exam. I stopped using my water pik, but continued to floss twice daily. I also began using the fluoride mouthwash only at night (hoping to be able to maintain my teeth & gums like a normal person). Well, my appointment was yesterday, and I'm very happy to announce that IT WORKED!! I didn't require any scaling, I had MUCH less staining than usual, there were no 5mm pockets, no redness, no bleeding, no need for antibiotic powders, no painful sub-gingival scaling or prescription mouthwashes!! And best of all NO out-of-pocket expenses that my insurance won't cover! HOORAY!! I brought the tube with me to show the hygienist, she said she's recommended Tea Tree Oil for patients in the past & saw about 50% with positive results. It's worth the $$ to see if it will work for you. Give it a shot!

I'd used melaleuca toothpaste years ago while spending the summer with a friend and her family and was beyond amazed at how white and clean feeling it got our teeth, but it tasted awful! Fast forward 20 years and while considering a professional whitening, I remembered Melaleuca! I found this product and ordered it right away. While sharing my excitement for it's arrival, I warned everyone of the flavor and assured them the results were worth it. I can't tell you how pleased I am with the pleasant flavor and fantastic performance of Desert Essence Natural Tea Tree Oil Toothpaste. Well, maybe I can...this will be a stocking stuffer for friends and family this coming Christmas. (grin) I'm completely serious.

If you are into natural health this is great. Although I know quite a bit about herbal products this wouldn't be my first choice for toothpaste due to taste and lack of felling clean afterwards. I use an electric toothbrush and they still felt gritty using this product.

I'm pleased with the Dessert Essence Natural Tea Tree Oil Toothpaste. I wish that I did not have to purchase it online. I tried this product with blind faith and I was prepared to ditch it in the trash can. This has a very good taste, its mellow and no lingering after taste.
