Organics Hair Care Shampoo Coconut 8 fl.oz

I have REALLY long, wavy hair. The ends tend to get dry and frizzy, but I'm pretty active, so I need to wash my scalp frequently. While, I've only been using natural hair care products, A LOT of those "natural" products still contain emulsifying waxes and silicones. They also never seemed to really clean my scalp thoroughly. So, my scalp would soon feel like it needed to be washed again, while the wax and silicone was making my ends even drier :-(

I would see Desert Essences in Whole Foods all the time, but thought it seemed pricey for only 8oz, so I kept steering toward the "better values". Frustrated with inferior shampoos and fragrances I didn't like, I finally took a chance on Desert Essence Organics (Coconut)!

+1: Desert Essence Organics contains NO silicones(or waxes from what I see), parabens, sodium lauryl/laureth sulfates, phthalates, petroleum...) - HUGE plus for them, even before I used it.

+2: It's Vegan, Wheat & Gluten Free

+3: It smells great. I also happen to LOVE coconut though.

+4: Although it did seem pricey for 8oz, I found that I use WAY less than I've ever used of any other shampoo. As I mentioned, I have really long hair (down to my waist). The consistency is a little runnier than some shampoos (it almost runs out of the bottle by itself - definitely don't squeeze hard), so I was initially worried that I'd go through the bottle in no time. I actually needed very little. It would take the same time or longer than some other shampoos for me to finish this bottle.

+5: It cleans my scalp wonderfully! Dare I say, it was actually squeaky clean.

I have med thick wavy hair, porous, that gets oily on top.

The last 8 or so shampoo's I have bought have been a disaster. They weigh my hair down, build up the more you use it, and make it so I must wash my hair every day.

I bought the Lemon shampoo and conditioner as I read someone else say that it was the best ever. Now, I can wash my hair every other day, and the second day, my hair is bouncy and full just like the first!

Other shampoos have silicones in them to slick the hair shaft. The second day, my hair looked flat and greasy.

The conditioner also allows me to put it even on my scalp and not just the ends. Other conditioners were so heavy I couldn't put them anywhere but my ends because they would flatten the scalp hair with too many oils.

Also....the tea tree does your scalp wonders. My scalp had been a little itchy, and if I scratched it, there was that moist white "coating" under my fingernails. Just one shampoo with the Lemon shampoo and your scalp will feel "normal", and if you scratch your head, there will be next to nothing under your nails.

My hair just feels so much healthier. Not dry, not oily. Just perfect. I have also used it about 3 times now, every other day, and it does not build up to make your hair flatter and flatter. It's bright and fluffy every time.
Will stick with this one.

I bought this for my granddaughter's oily hair. She didn't like shampooing everyday. This shampoo reduced the necessity to twice a week. Very nice and a large tube at that. It is concentrated so a little goes a long way. 2 shampoos are necessary.

A little over a year ago (as far as I can tell) my favorite shampoo in the world was reformulated for reasons unknown to me. Why Desert Essence would want to change the most amazing shampoo into what it is now is unthinkable. It was my number one shampoo that made me stop using any other shampoo. Together with its matching conditioner it was unbeatable for body, shine, and gentle but thorough cleaning. My wavy hair curled even more and had tons of body. One day I went out and bought a new bottle only to find that my hair was dull, lifeless and felt like it had a coating after use. I thought that I had gotten a bad batch so I went out and purchased two or three more from different places but with the same result. I am so disappointed!!! I wrote and called Desert Essence to ask them why they had reformulated it but so far they haven't responded. I have since been trying shampoo after shampoo with no luck in finding anything that works near as good. I am still searching in fact. I can only hope that others will contact Desert Essence and tell them they want the old formula back like I did. Maybe they will listen and the best shampoo will be back on the market again!

I have long, thick, brown, wavy, and natural hair. I haven't dyed my hair, there are no split ends, nothing. My old brand of shampoo (Nature's Gate) worked fine, but since it was summertime, I decided to try a different brand when I ran out just to switch things up. I love the smell of coconut, and the product's scent, natural ingredients, decent price, and glowing reviews convinced me to buy it. I figured at worse it would just be like any drug store shampoo and conditioner, but oh god was I wrong.

I have no idea why this is so terrible. I don't know if I got a bad batch, or if they changed the ingredients. All I know is, this brand has shown me that my old brand was amazing and that you shouldn't try to fix something that isn't broken.

My old shampoo left my hair smooth, soft, tangle free, and I had basically no hair shedding. Best of all, it allowed my hair to dry very quickly, especially if I used the hair dryer, it took about 2 minutes to dry my hair.

BUT THIS BRAND? Oh my god. After using the shampoo, my hair was rough, tangled, and felt TERRIBLE. With my other shampoo, if I used it without conditioner my hair wasn't that soft, but at least I could still brush it. Not a chance with this stuff. I quickly put conditioner in, hoping it would fix things. It did indeed make things easier, but not by much.

It took FOREVER for my hair to dry. My hair was frizzy. My hair was flat.

My hair started shedding so much that the wall of my shower looked like a crude and hairy version of a Van Gogh painting.

I tried to like this. I tried to give it a fair chance - I used this for over a month. This stuff is just terrible. Even Pantene Pro-V, something I loathe and never let near my hair, is better than this. The only thing I liked was the smell, but what good is that when your hair looks and feels like CRAP?!
