5.0 out of 5 stars Simple Hilarity
My first impressions of Desert Punk weren't exactly good ones; I had originally thought this to be a completely useless series as there was nothing in it other than "Aqua Teen Hunger Force"-like comedy and a complete over-saturation of fan-service. But I still had liked it nonetheless, because it did make me laugh. The English version, while not the truest translation, is...

"Desert Punk" is a great way to spend a couple hours, it's a "post-apocalyptic sex comedy/action adventure" is how I would describe it. It follows a mercenary named Desert Punk (of course) and the trials and tribulations he faces as a soldier for hire. This review is from: Desert Punk, Vol. 2 - The Desert Duo (DVD)
The English version, while not the truest translation, is filled with top-notch dirty jokes through and through, some of which is delivered so fast that it takes a moment to realize what you're laughing at. Plus, I enjoyed the unique style of animation and the quick-paced action.

But this volume of Desert Punk proves that my first impressions weren't so accurate. Not only do they attempt to follow a continuing storyline, but it actually works very well from episode five to episode eight. It deals with Desert Punk losing his reputation and having to find a way to regain it back while accepting some pretty strange jobs. Also, a few of the characters introduced in the last volume make some hilarious cameos (everyone besides the busty Junko makes and appearance in this volume) and of a course a few more are introduced.

This volume of Desert Punk was so good that I'm actually thirsting (sorry for the pun; couldn't help it) for the next volume. I still remember the pain from the constant belly laughs I let out while watching this volume. If you enjoyed Excel Saga, Cromartie High School, or anything of that nature, then Desert Punk would work well for you. A quick warning, though: the constant, yet comedic, fan-service and never-ending sexual jokes make this series a little too mature for a younger audience, so I will only recommend this to those of you sixteen or older.

Excellent!! The anime can still be excellent from a set of seemingly silly background.

"Desert Punk" is a great way to spend a couple hours, it's a "post-apocalyptic sex comedy/action adventure" is how I would describe it. It follows a mercenary named Desert Punk (of course) and the trials and tribulations he faces as a soldier for hire. He is accompanied and visited often by a barrage of fun characters with outrageous personalities during his adventures. He has an obsession with breasts, and one character in particular is VERY well endowed. The violence is somewhat mild and often bloodless, what makes it un-suitable for the younger viewers is the excessive sexual content (not nudity) of Desert Punk's fantasies. This anime doesn't take itself too seriously, so if your looking for a great plot you should propably look elsewhere. Still it's entertaining and often very amusing to see the situations the hero gets himself into.
