The list author says: "Here is a list of things that will make surviving in the extreme climate we like to call a desert for any extended amount of time possible. Some of the things included in this list may not be 'necessary, but I guarantee that if faced with surviving in a desert, you would be more than happy to have them along.
Also, please remember that this is an 'extreme' survival equipment list, meant for some sort of post-apocalyptic situation, so there are items included in here that are for personal protection & combat as well.

"Desert Camo Military BDU Shirt -- The purpose here should also be fairly self-explanatory. We all need clothes, and in a survival situation, having clothes that are both tough & provide plenty of extra storage & utility is a great idea."
"A Tactical vest allows for more storage, and convenient access to frequently used items. I would highly suggest using one unless you want to have to remove your backpack far more often than necessary. The fact that this particular vest comes in desert tan only helps it's inclusion in this list."
"As you may imagine, hydration in a desert environment is important, and difficult at the same time. Since water sources are few & far between, you want to be able to carry as much with you as possible. A hydration backpack system makes this possible."
"Desert Camo Military BDU Pants -- The purpose here should be fairly self-explanatory. We all need clothes, and in a survival situation, having clothes that are both tough & provide plenty of extra storage & utility is a great idea."
"When it comes to any type of 'extreme' survival situation, its important to have & know how to use a sidearm. A Sidearm, however, is useless if you can't get to it when you need it. A thigh holster is generally a convenient carrying option to have, and this SAS tactical holster also comes in desert digital, so it made it onto my list."
"I've worn 2 different pairs of these in the last year. The first I borrowed from a friend, and the second I bought after my friend took them back. Trust me, you want these boots if you're going to be doing a lot of hot-climate walking!"
"A good knife choice for all-around use. The fact that it comes in Coyote Brown instead of the standard black makes it ideal for use in a desert climate, as it may be necessary to use camouflage to conceal yourself at times, and black anything has a tendency to both stick out and retain more heat."
"Ka-Bar is the standard issue combat knife of the USMC, and is battle-tested. Thus, it makes sense to stick with something proven when it comes to choosing a combat knife of your own. This particular knife also comes in Desert Tan, and has a MOLLE compliant sheath, so it's a good choice for both tactical & desert situations."
