The new Beater Blade+ ingeniously improves on the functionality of standard V-shaped beaters offered with high-end stand mixers by crafting a high-quality, enhanced blade that includes a flexible rubber wing down the entire length of both sides of the blade. The durable, food-grade edging simulates the action of a powerful spatula to gently, yet thoroughly scrape the bowl clean. The wing-system design acts like a wiper blade that continuously scrapes sides and bottom of bowl while it mixes virtually eliminating hand-scraping and batter build-up on the blade. BeaterBlade’s state-of-the-art design continuously and automatically scrapes batters during mixing, which can speed up the process by as much as 50 percent. By eliminating the need to turn off and on the mixer to scrape the bowl, Beater Blade reduces wear of the motor of the mixer, as well. I love my beater blade, so I'm giving this a 5. I agree with all of the great things that everyone says about this stand mixer attachment. HOWEVER--my stand mixer is a Professional 5 Plus, and though it is considered a 5 quart mixer, this blade DOES NOT fit. If you go to the BeaterBlade.com website, or to Amazon's webpage for the 6 quart KitchenAid BeaterBlade, you will find that the Pro5 line requires the BeaterBlade for the 6 quart KitchenAid models. I'm writing this review to prevent others from making the same mistake I did. DO buy the BeaterBlade attachment though--it is a wonder!

"I loved this beater when I first got it...used it for everything. But when making cookies (not a large batch, not a stiff dough) it cracked right up the middle seam! I had owned it too long to get a replacement or full refund, even though Amazon is very good about returns. So sad.
UPDATE: I called the company and they sent me a brand new one! There is no seam that runs up the middle anymore, so I have high hopes for this one's longevity."

I could not have asked for a better response from the manufacturer! I LOVE, LOVE this beater! A time and aggravation saver. And I bake a lot. Thank goodness I have a skinny husband to do most of the eating!

I absolutely love this product! But you do have to get the hang of it, and it is not for novice bakers. The original KA beater will work better for some things. But as others have said, for anything sticky, gooey, or prone to stick to the sides of the bowl, this beater makes for quick and easy work.
But take it slow at first - you have to watch both speed, and time, or you will have a very overmixed batter, and yes, flour can fly (but that happens with KA's beater too). My banana bread was faster and easier than ever in the 20 years I have been making it. Even the not soft enough butter creamed up in less than a minute. Absolutely no scraping needed, I went from step one to into the pan in literally 2 minutes. As for flour flying, just add dry ingredients a little at a time, with the machine on a low speed until they start to incorporate, then turn it up and let this baby work!

Bought this for my wife for her birthday. She thinks it is great. Saves her a lot of time. I was a little surprised that it is made out of clear plastic - probably Lexan as it is quite tough. She has used it mostly for cookie dough and hasn't had a problem. I am glad I got this for her. We have a KitchenAide K5SS mixer that is almost 23 years old. We have owned the New Metro Design beater blade almost a month.

I ordered this because of the reviews I had seen and many other bakers' comments. The idea is great because it not only mixes, but scrapes the bowl as you mix.
The issues I have is that it is made of cheap plastic. Mind you, my K-5 Kitchen Aid was bought 45 years ago. At that time it was still manufactured by Hobart. They have since sold it to another company whose quality is very poor. This paddle fits into the same category. After spending over $25 for this, I would have expected it to be manufactured of metal, like the original beaters and even the current beaters - of aluminum. Instead it is made of a light weight plastic. After spending that money on this thing, I seriously doubt it will hold up more than a year or two.
In addition, the center shaft hole goes directly through to the bottom. This means whatever you are mixing gets up into the shaft. It's a real pain to clean properly. That means it is unsanitary to use.
Save yourself the money. It's not worthy the cost. It's downright CHEAP.
Update: I've had this for 6 months. It recently broke at the shaft while mixing butter. Amazon will not correct the problem since it is outside the 30 days return window. I've been told to call New Metro Design personally. Will report on their response.

You will NOT be dissapointed in this product. My blad broke as well (similar to what other people are saying on here), I emailed the company about it and had a response in 10 minutes. The head of the company called me the next day and apologized and they sent me a new blade for free in two days. They were well aware of the issue and have now fixed it to make the neck stronger so it will not break. I've been using my new one for months with nothing but happiness! I even bought another one so I have two when I'm making more than one product in a day. I cant say enough good things about the product and about the company! It's worth every penny...

My wife complained about the coating breaking off her KitchenAid beater. Searching through Amazon I came across this product and ordered one for the wife and each of my daughters.
These were instant hits with all of the girls in my life and I have received rave reviews from each about the improvement this blade makes when they're cooking. My wife was thoroughly pleased and my daughters have abandoned the use of the original KitchenAid beaters in favor of the New Metro Design beater blades.

Scraper clears sides of bowl
I'd wanted one since these first came out, but it doesn't seem very sturdy. KitchenAid is a "tough" piece of equipment and attachements should be the same.
