4.0 out of 5 stars Time saver
I was surprised at how light weight it is but it works exactly as advertised without dragging or flexing. I failed to follow the instruction to check depth into the bowl before using for the first time. When I made cheesecake the sides of the bowl were perfectly scraped clean but there was a significant layer of cream cheese in the bottom of the bowl. By the time I...

2.0 out of 5 stars Works well with mod
Works well but the bowl lift mixers do not have the spring that the tilt head mixers have and this effects the performance of this accessory. Without a spring to push the beater down it does not scrape the sides as clean as it should. I found a spring that fits and I'm now very happy with the performance. Kitchen Aid does not include the spring because it would be hard to...

By the time I noticed it I was too far into the recipe to try to cream it back in. It's a real time saver in cookie and cake recipies - as long as you follow instructions for first time set up! Definitely a worthwhile tool.

I hated the fact that I have to stop my Kitchenaide several times to scrape the sides of the bowl, so imagine my excitement when I saw these handy dandy blades! I use them all the time, and they scrape the sides perfectly, but the ingredients tend to "jump" out of the bowl. Sooo.....I just use my shields all the time now, which is not bad, but if you plan to get the beater blade, make sure you have a shield too.

I have a bowl-lift 6 qt Pro line KitchenAid.
This beater works great. There is really no need to scrape the bowl during mixing with a spatula any more. Cleanup is easy in the dishwasher since it's a coated beater. I've put my original beater blade into storage since getting this new one.

Why did anyone ever design or market a beater that doesn't clean the sides of the bowl as it mixes? This beater works whether mixing gently or beating at higher speeds. You never have to stop to scrape unmixed ingredients from the sides of the bowl. I have used it for cookie dough and brownies, cake, crust ingredients and filling for a ricotta torta so far. Fits the 6 quart kitchedAid Lift model bowls perfectly.

I must admit I wasn't perfectly sure how this blade would work with my new Professional 600 when I ordered it. I imagined it would work like a windshield wiper for my bowl in terms of how it would handle higher speeds.

I'm happy to report that this blade works very well! It's slightly twisted to accommodate the spinning while scraping motion, providing a good and satisfactory continuous scrape of the sides. No noise either. Although near the end, you may still want to use your spatula for a good mixing scrape since no matter what, there will be a very thin .2mm bit of batter left near the most curved part of your mixing bowl (even after adjusting).

I was even able to use my pouring shield from start to finish. But do note, a pouring shield + spatula beater doesn't make you invincible, add ingredients gradually or it will still "puff" out of the bowl.

Purchased this item for my wife as a gift. She has used it already, to make cookies and icing. What she likes about the beater is that it scrapes the edge of the bowl, keeping it clean and thoroughly mixing the ingredients. This is a nice attachment for the Kitchenaid mixers.

1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY!!!!!! Broke and stripped the gears on the mixer!!!!!!, January 17, 2012
This review is from: New Metro Design Beater Blade for KitchenAid 6-Quart Bowl Lift Models, Red Blades (Kitchen)
My husband bought this for his Mother for Christmas - she is a huge Kitchen Aid enthusiast and loves her mixer a great deal. Naturally, we thought this would be a great gift for our favorite baker. She was making cake batter this last Sunday and this paddle got twisted in her machine, caught on the bottom of the bowl and, by the time she shut it down, it stripped the gears on her 600 Professional model. Now, she'll have to get her machine repaired because of this defective plastic beater! I recommend that everyone stay away from this thing!

2.0 out of 5 stars Good concept, breaks too easily, October 28, 2011

This beater blade is made from plastic. It works as stated, but just with making simple cake batters and batches of buttercreme, I've now gone through two of these beaters in the last 12 months. The plastic just doesn't hold up like the metal kitchenaid beaters do. KitchenAid FINALLY came out with a beater that has a scraper edge, and now that my second of these plastic ones have broken, I'm going to go spend a little more and get a KitchenAid one that will last. Good concept, I've been grateful for the this beater blade for the last couple years of my home bakery business, but now that KitchenAid has finally wisened up, I'm moving on. The cost for the metal blade is not TOO much more, so instead of looking at getting another plastic one and planning to replace it in 6 months again, I'm getting the metal KitchenAid version.

I have got a 6 Quart mixer, it was so hard to keep the butter, cake mix and etc. scraped off the sides. Also it never seemed to get everything mixed up in the bottom of the bowl. I ordered this beater and absolutely love it. I had got to where I didn't bake a lot because it was such a hassle, I have baked everything in the house since I got my new beater.
