4.0 out of 5 stars What Beginners Should Know About Computer-based Training, December 13, 2000
This review is from: The Design Development and Evaluation of Instructional Software (Paperback)
The Design Development and Evaluation of Instructional Software (Hannafin & Peck) is a classic in the field of computer-based training and instruction. Whether the requirement is developing computer-based training (CBT) for commercial requirements or for public schools, this text provides the developers with sound methods backed by empirical research in the field. Rather than dive into endless technical specifications, the authors focus their discussion on the knowledge and skills that novice developers (e.g., public school personnel, students, and beginning developers) must develop. Throughout the text the authors emphasize the requirements for sound instructional design based on verifiable audience traits. They begin with a practical discussion of applicable theories and then apply those theories to planning, developing, and producing effective CBT. The text is well organized, thoroughly referenced, and includes several simple checklists that beginners and experts will find helpful.
