5.0 out of 5 stars Wife loves it!
My wife saw this basket in a bicycle magazine and found it here on Amazon. My wife just loves it! She hasn't used it to go grocery shopping yet, but it holds her very heavy purse, jacket and dinner left overs when we ride to local restaurants.

2.0 out of 5 stars More beautiful than usable, November 30, 2010

My husband surprised me with this basket for my birthday after I decided to not buy it because it was more than I could afford. I love, love, love the looks of it!! But the engineering is a disaster.

First, we had a very tough time mounting the clamps because my handlebar curves. Finally managed.

Second, I was 10 kms away from home when I stopped to buy a few groceries. Not very heavy (about 500 grams - 1 pound), but the load caused the clamps to slip and the basket to swivel downwards. The basket was pinching my brake cable so I couldn't pedal or push the bike. I had to walk home holding the basket up to release the pressure on the brakes and push my bike.

Third, my husband tried to fix the clamps by lining them with rubber, but then they wouldn't close around the handlebar. Darn it!

Now the basket is sitting on the floor of my guest room, unuseable as a bike carrier.

Probably for the better. I have a friend who bought one after falling in love with mine, and it was stolen right off her bike. That's right--the fact that it just slots onto the hardware means anyone can remove it, no tools required. The designer did a good job, but it should go back to the ENGINEER'S drawing board.

From a technical standpoint, the mounting hardware is easy to install, but it really isn't designed for heavy loads. You should really tighten the bolts or risk scratching up the bike.

We recommend it!

2.0 out of 5 stars beautiful, but doesn't fit my handlebars, July 29, 2010
this is a beautiful piece and a wonderful idea
but the hardware to install is not compatible with the curve of bike handles
if your handles are straight across for at least 8-10 inches in the center then this will work
it does not work with my or my husband's bike

I bought my bike basket in a little shop up north, and it came with the hardware to attach to bike handlebars and the shoulder strap (sold without the hardware as a market basket), because the basket is detachable, which I love. However, it's so adorable, it actually hasn't gone onto my bike yet - it's currently my knitting basket, which I admire often! I plan to try it out on the bike in the spring, however. I will say that using it as a like, shopping basket might be tough because the rigid scalloping along the top isn't comfortable against your body, but I have no complaints - it's sturdy, super cute, detachable and has a strap for carrying should you option to do so - totally genius as far as I'm concerned.

I am just talking about my experience with my new Carrie Bicycle basket, but I have not been able to use it because it has been raining heavily. Hopefully my review helps.
