Prior to my ordering this book, there wasn't much information to be had on whether this book was worth purchasing. Given the author's pedigree, I decided to take a chance and I have to say that I'm glad I did.

The first half of the book is filled with tips and ideas for creating brochures and procuring artwork and other design elements. Most of this is basic knowledge but, if this is your first time creating brochures or it has been awhile since your last brochure layout, the information in here is wonderful. The second half of the book consists of Case Studies and a Gallery. I always enjoy reading through case studies as it is fun to read what design considerations were in play when the brochure was being constructed. The Gallery section provides additional examples, which are very nice for those seeking inspiration. The example photographs are all in color throughout the book and are printed at sufficient size to allow you to be able to see the designs without squinting or hunting for your magnifying glass.

Overall, I thought this book was a good addition to my growing collection of print-related books. For the beginner or intermediate reader, it provides good, solid advice that everyone should know. For those looking for inspiration, I thought the examples were very well selected and fun to browse.

This is a great reference and learning tool. Clearly laid out and concisely written, Brochures 01 is very handy!
