Great general reference, July 25, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Design of RF and Microwave Amplifiers and Oscillators (Artech House Microwave Library) (Hardcover)
This is a truly excellent book because it includes information on practically everything relating to linear rf circuit design. There is a wealth of information about components including when they can be considered lumped and how to obtain distributed equivalents. Even topics that are covered in other books are covered in more detail, often clarifying issues involved. A number of new techniques are covered including an extension of Cripps' approach to power amplifier design and a powerful impedance matching technique. The only major gripe I have is that the book is occasionally difficult to understand and I found myself reading a number of sections more than once before I understood them. That said, it is an excellent book and I highly recommend it.

Excellent reference albeit weak in derivations, June 19, 2003
This review is from: Design of RF and Microwave Amplifiers and Oscillators (Artech House Microwave Library) (Hardcover)
My professor gave me his copy of this book to use for designing some widebance impedance matching networks. Needless to say, as a general reference, this book surpasses most all I've referenced for my work. The only quip I have with the book is that Abrie often skips numerous steps in his derivation, often without placeholders like "it follows that." This may, of course, be my limited background talking, but I've had to read over a lot of the stuff and do the math on my own (where, in fact, it isn't actually CLEAR) to figure out what he's saying.
And as other reviewers have noticed, it tends to get a little dense and hard to absorb at times; I, too, have found myself rereading a few sections to solidify the material.
Overall, though, it's an excellent reference tool and I recommend anyone in the field to have a copy on hand.

Not worth your time !!, June 15, 2008
This review is from: Design of RF and Microwave Amplifiers and Oscillators (Artech House Microwave Library) (Hardcover)
This is one of the most obscure reading I have ever gone through, I will recommend to read the publication at the end of the chapters, which will save you money and time.
