I'm a practicing engineer in Oregon. I have studied and reviewed concrete foundations for 5-6 years, and this book is lacking in quality depth - particularly with examples. If one wants to go into a graduate-level understanding of reinforced concrete design, this book will leave you disappointed due to the lack of example problems, clear and concise descriptions, and overall quality. James MacGregor's book is far more "complete". The plus for this book is that it at least attempts to cover retaining and foundation structures, but still lacks quality example problems to illustrate what is not too obvious within the ACI code. Quantity is a 5 star, quality is a 2 star, therefore I've given this a 3 star review.

Design of Reinforced Concrete (Eighth Edition) by Jack C. McCormac and Russell H. Brown is an excellent book. I am a registered mechanical engineer and am trying to expand my understanding of reinforced concrete. What I really like about this book is how the authors use basic principles of mechanics of solids in the design of reinforced concrete. Rather than just trying to apply a set of derived equations tables and charts that I am not familiar with, I can use my understanding of basic mechanics of solids to figure out such things as the compressive stress and strain in the concrete, the stress and strain in the tensile steel reinforcement, the stress and strain in the compressive steel reinforcement,etc. while applying the current ACI 318-08 Code.

Even it says it's like new, but in fact it's a NEW one!!!!!!!thx! well, I think I could sell it to someone else after I use it for a good price.

I was able get hold of older versions of this particular book. And, the info in this book is not changed much except for references to new code.

Buy it if you must.

The prime focus of this book is on the "Design", and not on the "Mechanics". If one has to learn how to design the essential components of concrete structures, without going much deep into Mechanics, this is a fantastic book. Inclusion of spreadsheets with the text is another attractive feature of the book. These sheets help to find alternative solutions quickly. Also, the way authors have minimized the units' confusion, arises due to the use of SI and US customary units in formulas and examples, is amazing. One more plus of the book is that it also covers design of retaining walls.

Product was received as specified in a very quick manner for very cheap. Excellent service at a great price.

Just what I was looking for other than the disk doesn't work on the newer systems.

Got it way cheaper on Amazon. Delivery didn't take long and the book was in excellent condition.
