Not for a beginner or non-EE!,

This review is from: Design of Rotating Electrical Machines (Hardcover)
I really wanted a book that would take me from beginner material all the way up to advanced material. I feel this book does not do that. It is meant someone who already has a fair level of understanding of rotating electrical machines. When they say it's a good resource for a senior electrical engineering student, post grad, or even professional...THEY MEAN IT.
I have an BS in mechanical engineering and this book does not come across as straight forward in any way. Being that I paid (too much) for it, I'm hoping I will be able to fish out some useful (and understandable!) info.

A How To Engineer A Good Electrical Motor Book Review,

This review is from: Design of Rotating Electrical Machines (Hardcover)
This is a jewel of an engineering book for someone who is already into electrical motors. By this I mean you should know how to set up a system of equations to calculate say no load speed or torque for a rotor by the method of virtual work (energy conservation), Maxwell's stress tensor (asymmetry in flux line distribution is unstable leading to torque) or possibly a self consistent approximation scheme for solution in an induction motor. This book deals with those parameters which will make their way into your model system or are already there. Theory of how to adjust various parameters to bring about field asymmetry for instance is given but the reader must fill in the details or consult the references. Probably should be used in conjunction with a text on finite element methods with similar ends. Strong grounding in electromagnetic fields (no pun intended) needed as well as circuit theory.

High level book, surely written for graduated experienced electrical engineers who want to increase their theoretical knowledge on rotating EM design.
I'm happy to find in XXI century a so complete book on this field, which revamps such "old" subject and update them to the electronic drives. One of the best books on design of electrical machines I've ever read!

Good manual for understanding & organizing the concepts of electromagnetics
This book is appropriate for the people have some knowledge about electromagnetics. It is helpful to organize the relation between several concepts. |
