I have dozens of Floral Design Books and this is the best by far. There are a bunch of tips and tricks and the photos are absolutely beautiful! I love, love, love this book!

Michael Gaffney has such a funny way of writing. I love that he compares the top flower in a hand tied rose bouquet to Sting at a concert--the headliner! I have learned so much from this book in half an hour of reading through it than I have in some classes I've taken. Wonderful instruction, easy to understand conversational tone, and I love that he gives great formulas that any designer must know in order to make anything he or she wants. He is a very famous designer but he doesn't write like most other pretentious designers out there. It's like no other book I've read, I love it! Thank you Michael, and I'm trying my best to take your class this Spring in California!

The book is full of inspiration and great for beginners. I signed up for Michael's design course and loved every minute. I would definitely recommend this book to someone just starting out in the floral design business or would like to learn the basics for recreation.

I decided to take a flower design class through a community college. I reinforced my learning by looking up ideas and techniques on the internet. I ran into Michael Gaffney's Youtube 101 videos and decided to purchase Design Star. The book is beautifully illustrated and written in straight forward and easy to understand terminology. It was very helpful to reinforce what I was learning and gave me great ideas on flower combinations, designs and current styles. I did find the book a little lengthy with same pictures being used repetitively throughout the book. I would have appreciated less same photo recurrence.
