Best wood book...,
By Steph (Arizona) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Design of Wood Structures - ASD (Hardcover)
...to clearly explain ASD and UBC while teaching wood design principles. This new edition incorporates 1997 UBC, while the previous version was for 1994 UBC. The written explanations are clear. The examples are helpful. I am a 4th year structural designer and never had any wood classes in college. This book is it....I highly recommend it.

Taking the California PE?,
This review is from: Design of Wood Structures - ASD (Hardcover)
This book is gives a good grasp of seismic design for wood structures. Many of the examples especially near the end are good practice for the Californa PE Special Seismic Exam design questions. It gives a good grasp of how seismic forces move through a building and how to calculate those forces at various locations.

This book is excellent for someone not knowing much about timber design and learning everything for the first time. Problems and information is presented in an easy to read and follow format which allows the reader to truly comprehend the material. This book is a great tool in developing the fundamental knowledge needed to design timber structures. I strongly recommend this book to anyone interested in the design of timber structures.
