5.0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC BOOK!!!!
This is the perfect book if you are interested in beading clothing, but the techniques will work on anything. The soft cover book contains beautiful glossy color pages. The descriptions are concise and clear, and someone with limited previous beading experience could follow along. Mr. King covers transferring designs to fabric and using frames and hoops in a way that...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected
I looked forward to the publication of this book, because I had seen and been impressed by the author's clothing. However, it turned out to be a disappointment in many ways. There are some very good instructions, especially on using sequins, but most of the book is given over to a number of designs which I guess are for use on clothing. I found most of them completely...

5.0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC BOOK!!!!, March 10, 2007
This review is from: Designer Bead Embroidery: 150 Patterns and Complete Techniques (Paperback)
This is the perfect book if you are interested in beading clothing, but the techniques will work on anything. The soft cover book contains beautiful glossy color pages. The descriptions are concise and clear, and someone with limited previous beading experience could follow along. Mr. King covers transferring designs to fabric and using frames and hoops in a way that I've not seen in other beading books. With this book, I feel equipped to replicate some of the expensive garments I've seen in the high-end department stores. Also covered is the application of sequins, beaded mesh, dangling beaded fringe, and the included 150 patterns and techniques useful and fun. Definitely well worth the bucks!

Kenneth King has translated his skills as a embellisher fantastically into this book. On the first look through, I was in awe of the detail laid out for each style of beading - type, stitches used, materials needed. With a second look through, I noticed the layout for each of the embellishment designs - the amount of enlargement needed for a select size, stitches "coded" ( like in a knitting graph) - very thoroughly thought out presentation. I think I'm left hanging here - this designer should be doing a follow-up book, this is really a beautifully put together book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Designer Bead Embroidery, March 26, 2007
This review is from: Designer Bead Embroidery: 150 Patterns and Complete Techniques (Paperback)
To me, this is an amazing book. I bought this for my daughter, who is eight. She started making these cute little purses and wanted to make them "fancier". I showed how to applique and embelish with beads but it wasn't enough she wanted "fancy". I purchased this book for her, WE LOVE IT. She has taken the book into her room and on her own created. She needed me to explain the stitches a little at first, but now she just goes. I am a homeschool mom of 5 children and I don't pay retail for anything. For this book, I did and it is worth every penny. I think if you are just beginning or know what you're doing, this book is a perfect reference or a jumping place for inspiration.

I followed the instructions which are so easy to follow, and used patternes to decorate hand bags. After following one or to patterns which were given in the book I started to make my own designes according to the basics i have learned from this book.

This is a great book. It contains fantastic patterns and instructions for bead embroidery. I especially liked all the patterns suitable for trimming garments. If you're looking for a book with a wide range of beading patterns and instructions, this is the one.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is a winner....., May 13, 2007
This review is from: Designer Bead Embroidery: 150 Patterns and Complete Techniques (Paperback)
The book "Designer Bead Embroidery" by Kenneth D. King is so impressive it could be the only manual for bead embroidery you will ever need. The instructions and patterns are easy to follow from beginning to finish and include a color picture of the end product. Mr. King gives you all the tools you will need to replicate his many and diverse couture designs which range from simple motifs to elegant initials and intricate borders. While I own hundreds of how-to sewing and needlework books there are only a few that are well-worn and dearly loved. This volume will be added to that precious few.....victoriagowen@aol.com

There are some very good instructions, especially on using sequins, but most of the book is given over to a number of designs which I guess are for use on clothing. I found most of them completely uninspiring and I wish more space had been given to techniques.

Kenneth King has done it again. The book has many photographs of beautiful beadword. In addition, he has included the information about beadwork that I have always wanted but had been unable to find. The breadth of his examples is extraordinary.
