Over The Top Scrapbook Design,

This lady is an amazing painter -- her art is absolutely charming. However, her projects in this book are heavy-handed and WAY over the top for scrapbooking.
In most cases, the colors of paper & embellishments detract from the photos and journaling too much. And to call them "scrapbook" projects is a disservice to the reader -- because of their three-dimensionality, most projects presented are better suited to a shadowbox than an album. As I browsed these projects, they reminded me of the garish chintz & over-engineered "Victorian" decorating craze of the 1980s, which has all but passed into oblivion. Not that you can't use some of Ms. Rios' examples for inspiration on your scrapbook pages, but if you're looking for a TRUE scrapbook resource, there are much better books than this available. |
