The lotion smells nice before tanning. It is also very moisturizing. I wish I would have paid more attention, before purchasing the lotion that it does not contain a bronzer. I like Black Dark Tanning Silicon better. This lotion is a great option for those who do not want a lotion with bronzers. I like the bronzers better. The only other drawback with this lotion is the smell after tanning. It is not near as bad as some that I have used in the past, but it is definitely not as "clean" fragranced as Black. But a good product overall. Very moisturizing.

First of all, I tan moderately (mostly as a treatment for medical conditions) and my goal is not to be as brown as I can be. I just want to enjoy my tanning sessions and maintain some color, so if you're looking to get to that "next level" in darkness, maybe this product isn't for you. :) What's important to me is to have a tan that looks natural on my skin (fair but with a yellowish-olive tone), so I tend to avoid bronzers altogether, especially DHA! I don't trust chemicals not to turn me orange--and besides, DHA smells just awful after tanning.

That said, Phoenician is great because it's bronzer-free but has compounds that supposedly amplify the skin's natural ability to tan. The silicone makes the lotion feel great, and the fig fragrance smells wonderful both before and after tanning. The lotion never feels sticky, heavy or gross on my skin. And even though ALL lotions contain harmful chemicals, at least Phoenician is chock-full of vitamins, amino acids and plant extracts, so I feel like I'm getting the lesser of two evils when I use it. ;)

Anyway, Phoenician sells for over $90 at salons but I've never paid more than $35 for it on Amazon. Give it a try!

This was the most moisturing smooth silky tanning lotion I have ever purchased. I have been tanning once a week using Phoenician Dark Tanning Lotion with Silicone by Designer Skin and my tan is absolutely beautiful. I am so glad I am using this product.
