Good, but not as good as the first two,

Okay, so we've heard Lucy's story and Izzie's story. Now it's Nesta's turn. When Nesta is stuck on a three-hour train ride, she meets Simon, and they connect instantly. Simon invites Nesta to go horseback riding, skiing, and the movies, etc. But, on every "date" they go on, his sister Tanya and her friend Cressida tag along. Cressida has a BIG problem with Nesta, and is just downright mean to her. Meanwhile, Izzie's singing with a band, and Lucy's back with her old boyfriend Tony. This book is funny, but not as good as the first two. And it really bothers me how Nesta talks - she always says how she's so pretty, and when you're pretty like she is boys always flock around you, etc. she sounds just like one of the stuck up girls that she complains about. Overall grade - B

Life of London and Girls,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Mates, Dates, and Designer Divas (Mass Market Paperback)
Mates, Dates, and Designer Divas is about many things. To start, Nesta falls in love with Simon. Then his sister's friend Cressida acts snobby toward her. After that she soon finds out she can't spend money on riding gear for horseback riding with Simon. Simon is rich and wealthy and Nesta was rich and soon found out she might loose everything. Read the book to find out why. This book is a very good book. Some good things about Nesta could be she is nice, she has good friends, and she doesn't let people bring her down. Some bad thoughts about her could be that she can be selfish, she always gets what she wants, and if she doesn't she whines. The lesson of the story would be don't let people bring you down. I found this out when Izzie and Lucy were talking with her about Simon. All in all, I think Mates, Dates, and Designer Divas is a very good book and if you like chick flicks; you should read it.

If you like girly, estrogen-filled books. This is the one for you. Mates, Dates and Designer Divas is the first book of the Mates, Dates series that I've read. It was about Nesta, who is a ego centric drama queen, who has to cut back on money because both of her parents are temporarily unemployed. Nesta meets a boy and they become boyfriend and girlfriend. The rest of the book is basically about Nesta dealing with peer pressure, a little bit of gambling (sorry. spoiler there), and her new boyfriend's peers.

Nesta has met the perfect guy to be her boyfriend, but there is a problem he is rich and Nesta isn't all that rich at all. Do you think nesta can keep up with his upper-class background? Then there is his friend that likes him her name is Cressida.Cressida is rich also and has tons of fashion designer clothes. How is Nesta going to compete with that? How can Nesta compete with the ultimate Diva Designer?I personally think this book is hilarious!I would have to recommend this book or any of Cathy Hopkins books. If your a girl then you are going too want too read this book!It has fashion tips and everything in this book. By:Shakira aka kira

I really, really DO NOT like Nesta. She is such a drama queen. Her friends always have to being praising her - "Nesta, you're so beautiful"; "Nesta, you are so pretty;" "Nesta, you are so fashionable" - for her to be happy. She is damned annoying and whiny and must always be the center of attention. I like Lucy and Izzy and TJ so much better. Nesta is a brat. Save your money and don't buy the Nesta books like this and "Sequin Smiles".

Mates, Dates, and Designer Divas,

Mates, dates, and Designer DivasBy: Cathy Hopkins Reviewed by: S. Baek Period: P5 This book is about three best friend girls. Their names are Nesta, Lucy, and Izzie. Nesta is on a three-hour train ride. However it takes longer than Nesta had planned. She was dreading the ride because there was nothing for her to do. Until she spots a guy that she takes interest in. She goes into the lady¡¯s room and when she comes out her seat is taken by an old grandfather. Nesta feels sorry to ask the grandfather to leave, therefore, she stands for the two-hour drive to the next city. When the train reaches the city, people start to leave. She notices that there is an empty seat across of the boy she had taken interest in. She goes over to the seat and she accidently trips and lands in his arms. She apologizes and she sits down. The boy's name is Simon Peddington Lee. They start talking and they start to like each other. Afterwards, when she finally reaches home, she told Lucy and Izzie all the details. Simon asks Nesta to go horseback riding with him. Nesta quickly replies, ¡°great.¡± When she gets to the stable, she sees Simon. However, he wasn't alone. He came with his sister and his friend. His sister's name was Tanya and the friend was Cressida. Cressida looked like some kind of stink was under her nose. From there on Cressida has been ruining the good feeling that Nesta had felt when she was with Simon. Nesta also overheard Cressida saying that Simon was only in a relationship with Nesta because Simon wanted to be different. He felt different because he was with a Jamaican and half Italian. Nesta really felt sad. She also has been competing with Cressida because Simon and Cressida are from a high-class rich family. It was hard for Nesta to catch up because of her budget in her wallet and the financial problems at home. Later she finds out that a relationship is based on trust and love not money and the things she buys or has. I liked this book because it showed you the regular teenage problems and how you are able to solve it. For example, how Nesta asks her mother for money and her mother turns her down. Nesta's solution is to go and get a job. Which of course she was unsuccessful. Also these girls have the same problem that most of the girls right now have. Something like, what am I going to wear when I see him or how does my hair look when none of that is important. Sometimes girls have hope that boys will look at them for their accessories, but they find out that they don't. The quotes that I took interest the most is," Trust me to go and fail for someone who lives on the other side of the planet." This was on the back side of the book. Another quote that I took interest in was," I felt full of hope. Possibilities." This was on page 127. My favorite part of the story was when Izzie, Lucy, and Nesta are friends again after a quarrel. Then they realize friendship is too hard to lose over a guy or anything else that seems unimportant. My least favorite part was when Cressida said those mean things about Nesta in the ladies room. Also I did not like how Nesta danced in front of everyone and how she made herself the center-of-attention when that day was Izzie's moment. I thought that it was pretty selfish. I understand that she was drunk but she should have taken responsibilities for her actions. Other than that I thought that this was a great book to read for one's pleasure.

Nesta's Point-Of-View,

This review is from: Mates, Dates, and Designer Divas (Mass Market Paperback)
Nesta is ecstatic when she meets a handsome boy named Simon, on a train ride home on Easter day. Everything is great, except for the fact that Simon is from a rich, upper-class family, which includes a rich, upper-class lifestyle. Nesta always thought that her family was rich, but compared to Simon, she's poor. Now she's pretending that she has the money to keep up with Simon, when in reality, she doesn't. Not to mention that there's Simon's friend, Cressida, whom absolutely hates Nesta, but has the money to keep up with Simon. Now Nesta is faced with the problem of how she will keep looking great so Simon really thinks that she's loaded. This was a cute, fun read, told from Nesta's point-of-view, but I must admit, it's not nearly as good as the first two, "MATES, DATES, AND INFLATABLE BRAS," and "MATES, DATES, AND COSMIC KISSES." This is a great book for die-hard MATES, DATES... fans, but if you're a first-time reader, check out the first two in the series. Erika Sorocco

This was a great book. It wasn't too long either. It kept me hooked and I wanted to keep reading. I finished it in one day because I wouldn't put it down! I haven't yet read the other books in the series but I'm going to. The book is about a girl named Nesta. She meets a boy and they start going out. He's rich but her parents are having money trouble and she can't keep up with the "price" of her boyfriend! She doesn't think he will like her if she tells the truth. Then there is Cressida, a snobby friend of her boyfriend. Don't forget her friends. When she gets in a fight with them she wants to cry! To find out how to she handles her problems read the book!
