The item is reliable and compact but the amount of reflection is limited in the sense that the mouth of the reflector is quite small. Even using a 100 watt 6500k light bulb the amount of reflected light is not really that great. The clamp has a pivoting mechanism so the clamped is stationary but you can still move it around. i have found this feature to be quite loose and does not stay in place like in the picture. No matter how tight you fasten it it always limps and doesn't stay in place. But it is a low price item so....

Depending on the brand of CFL, the base of the CFL may be large enough to prevent the bulb from screwing all the way into the socket (base hits the sides of the reflector before the bulb is seated). For higher wattage CFLs, 45 watts and up (that's actual CFL wattage, not equivalent) a socket extender will work, but it effectively adds about 1.5" to the length of the bulb. The tip of my 45 watt CFL extended below the rim the reflector, which makes it very easy to break if you're not careful. I'm not implying a defect in the reflector, rather just an giving an FYI in case you're planning on using a high wattage CFL. The socket in the reflector is a standard E26 btw and the reflector works ok.

I use three of these lamps along with grow bulbs to provide additional light to my indoor garden. As long as you don't mind an industrial look, they're a great cheap option for providing light where you need it. I have my lamps on a power strip to make turning them on and off in unison a breeze.

I purchased two of these in the hopes to use them to help bring additional light into a photo studio that I had made. The clamp itself attaches to the lamp using a swivel (bevel?) style, that lacks in turning radius and function. Also the clamp requires a lot of pressure to open and doesn't open very wide (about 2" or so), if you need to clamp this onto something thick (or need to be able to swivel the lamp fully, without dis-assembling it), this item is NOT for you.

The reflector doesn't screw securely onto the base. In addition, the lamp's angle isn't adjustable enough to do what I wanted to do with it. But, I wouldn't get enough of a refund to make returning it worthwhile, so I'll try to make it work.

Exactly what you'd expect. Easy to snap together and plugin. Nothin' fancy. Easily fits big incandescent or CFL bulbs. Has been in continuous use for months now and no issues at all.

These clamp lights are minimal but they're a good value. They're of sturdy construction, the clamps are strong, they have a switch (which surprisingly some others don't). I was quite happy with my first set so I bought more of them.

Because they're on the small side, the bulbs I'm using protrude beyond the reflective dome so they aren't able to reflect all the light in a forward direction. Depending on the intended application, this may not be a big deal for you.

Safety Warning:
If you're wanting to put a heat lamp in one of these, opt instead for a clamp light with a metal protective grate that prevents the bulb from being touched. Otherwise if the clamp fails the bulb could fall and touch something flammable starting a fire.

This open style light is great for keeping our pump house warm and avoiding freezing pipes it easily clips on to area where I need it and the cord is off sufficient length. Very pleased with the purchase. If you are planning on using this outside you may want to consider a style that has a cover to avoid the bulb getting exposed to elements and going out. But for our use it is great!
