I have this hanging up for my geriatric (15 1/2 year old labrador ret) with an infrared lamp in it. He willingly lays in front of the lamp, I guess it helps his old bones feel good.
I looked into infrared spas for him, but they were too costly. And, this seems to do the trick! I do NOT have a medical grade lamp in it, just a normal infrared used in bathrooms for warmth.
I'm not saying I think it is curing his arthritis, but I can say he choses to nap in the warmth given off by this lamp.
It has a guard on it to keep him from cracking the bulb, but I have it hanging high enough off the floor his tail barely touches the guards.
He loves it, and I like seeing him comfortable.
He also has a heated bed, but I think he likes this better.
NOTE: You can buy different bulbs for this lamp, I have a 125watt infrared (bathroom) bulb in there now, but it can handle a 250watt. I tried one of those at first, but was afraid the 250 would make him more like a french fry. It just gave off TOO MUCH heat.
There are TONS of lamps, some heat, some infrared. So many choices, and as long as the bottom (screwy part of the bulb) is an R40 style it will fit. Just don't go over 250 watts. This may not look as fancy as some lamp fixtures, but for my purpose this fit my need perfectly.

I bought these as replacements for heat lamps in my hen house that didn't work any longer. This is a much sturdier product than the ones at my local feed store. Shipping was extremely quick, and the price was fair. So my hens may be bored cooped up in this cold weather, but at least they are warm.

Bought six of these and they all worked fine no problems. This was the best price for a clamp light and free shipping was an added bonus.

Lamps are good - some were dented, but it didn't affect the lamp's mission. The clamp separated itself and had to put back together...oh, and in order to turn off, you have to unplug the lamp. No on/off switch that I saw.

The metal on this brooder is very thin and malleable. It was dented in a few places. But for $15 and 300 watt capacity, you really can't go wrong.

Used this lamp through out the winter in my dogs kennel. Has done a great job. Quality product not the cheap stuff. Heavy cord to boot. Would order again!

I used this with an infra-red bulb for a litter of pups. It came in good time and in perfect condition. It worked very well and kept my puppies nice and warm. The clamp was very sturdy and secure.

This lamp is sturdy and the clamp is strong. Even tho' my guinea hens are hell-bent in knocking it down, they haven't been successful.

I love the shiny interior of this brooder lamp, it really reflects the light better than other lamps I've used in the past. I also love that the lamp came with an optional clamp, so if you can't hang it, you could clamp it. Overall, the lamp is very well made, the guard fits securely, the hood is large and produces a good sized circle of light and the cord is nice and heavy. The best brooder lamp I've used so far.

It's a hardcore fixture, built to last. Definitely recommended. Spring clip is hard core and will attach to many surfaces well.
