Sensor Works Very Well but Limited Directionally,

...at least mounted under the eaves of a house. The sensor stalk is jointed but the two joints only allow movement in a single plane and the head can only be twisted perhaps 50 degrees side to side. The entire stalk can be rotated from the base by loosening the knurl nut, true, but then the light sockets block the movement range. (sigh)
It's a shame, too, because I'm very pleased with the range and sensitivity of the sensor. The only quibble with the electronics is that this model doesn't have a daylight test mode - I had to wait until dark to adjust the detection area. But the cheap price makes up for this minor issue.

I purchased 2 of these to use as night-time motion sensors outside the house. The unit is supposed to have an override to make it come on even if it is not dark but it does not work. I thought it was defective but after bypassing the sensor I got the lights to come on in the daylight. It works just fine at night as a motion sensor (which is what I needed so I kept them), but if you need to be able to turn it off and on when needed (or have it stay on without waving your arms every 10 minutes), you should choose another light.

Light worked fine for about a month. Then it stayed on all night. Even when I disconnected and reconnected it. It started doing the same. It goes on by itself at night and stays on all night! It was a couple of weeks past the return date, so I am stuck with it.

I bought two of these for my house and both are DOA, and it's not the bulbs either. Yes, I know how to install them - I have installed numerous ones before and have a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. Very, very poor quality control - what are the changes that two out of two are DOA?The unfortunate thing is I didn't get around to installing them for a few months after I received them, so no I can't even return them to Amazon.

I have a long drive way and it is nice that when a car enters the lights go on. I have had soem cheaper ones that arent very sensative, but this one does the job. I would recomend this one to others. Just be a little patient you need to walk the area and fien tune the settings so it goes on when and where you want it to

I was wary because this was one of the least expensive units I found. I was also a little concerned because they were plastic and not metal, but I had read the reviews and people seemed to like them, so I bought a set. They work great, and I will now buy a second unit. Don't let the lesser price or the plastic scare you off! They are dependable and look great!

Installed this over my sisters garage and am disappointed with the detection width. Distance is good at where ever you are pointing though. However, the assembly is very flimsy especially the angle assembly for the motion sensor.
I will be looking at a differnt unit if needing another motion light.

i got these because i was looking for affordable security lights. they are very cheap plastic and that is not really a big problem since i was expecting plastic. the lights are very difficult to adjust without breaking them. the amount of time the lights are on and the angle of the sensors are also painful to change.

This light works well for me. It is place out of the weather under an eave. It functions as described after a different brand failed. I use the CFL floodlight in this and they work very well.

I was skeptical about buying this because the price was so low. it has been hanging on my porch for a few weeks now and i gotta say i have had 0 false alarms and it picks up even when someone pulls in the driveway. witch is pretty far away "25-30 feet"
cons: one night it was on half the night so i went out to see if i could figure anything out and there was a month sitting right on the middle of the plastic sensor not moving just sitting there. i knocked him off and the light kicked off shortly after and worked perfect again. not sure this is a con but worth stating When i point the sensor straight down my porch it doesnt pick up i have to angle it seems like the 110 degree angle isnt lined up with the plastic sensor that you see on the outside i had to angle it a little bit to get it pointing straight down my porch but once i figured that out it worked great and has ever since. I cant say anything about how weather resistant this is since my location is out of the weather but it does come with all the weather proofing gaskets you would need! |
