Basic Book With No New Information or Pictures,
By
This review is from: Designing Liners: A History of Interior Design Afloat (Hardcover)
Upon opening the package I was dissapointed with the book in general. It is small, non-glossy pages with hardly any pictures at all. The book brings forth no new information to someone who has an interest in liners and their design and has read material that was publised before this book. William H. Miller Jr's books have almost all of the pictures in his offereings, and then some, with a more detailed look into the interriors. Save yourself the problem of the return process.

Anne Massey's 'Designing Liners',
By
This review is from: Designing Liners: A History of Interior Design Afloat (Paperback)
Anne Massey's informative volume on the history of ocean liner interior design has many highs and a number of lows. Ms Massey is clearly an expert on interior design and her knowledge in this area is well presented in this title. However, ocean liner and maritime history aficionados who may wish to read this book should be prepared for a signifcant number of inaccuracies and errors in relation to the histories of certain liners and their designers. Nonetheless, this is an enjoyable read that compliments previous titles on the topic.

This review is from: Designing Liners: A History of Interior Design Afloat (Paperback)
This book is written by a lady who has an interest in interior design, and that's about all this book is about - interior design. She could just as easily be talking about hotel rooms or office buildings through most of the book and you'd never know the difference. It's an extremely dull book with no new information for those interested in classic ocean liners. There's nothing you didn't already know in here, and honestly, I can't find any redeeming quality in this book.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Designing Liners: A History of Interior Design Afloat (Paperback)
What a huge disappointment this book is. I expected that a history of interior design afloat would include more than a few faded photos that I had seen a dozen times before in other books. Someone needs to introduce this woman to Bill Miller who certainly seems to know where to obtain great photos of old ship interiors. The book is small, the photos poorly reproduced, and is outrageously over priced. I bought a signigicantly reduced price copy via warehouse deals and I stll paid about 4 times what the book is worth. Don't waste your money.
