Bill Friedman is author of "All Against The Law: The Criminal Activities of the Depression Era Bank Robbers, Mafia, FBI, Politicians, & Cops", the fast-action crime story with shocking political exposes. He also wrote the groundbreaking research work Designing Casinos to Dominate the Competition published by the University of Nevada Reno. He is author of the seminal book for succeeding in the casino business Casino Management. He taught the pioneer course in casino management for the University of Nevada Las Vegas's College of Hotel Administration in the early years during the decade of the 1970s.
Friedman is president of the Friedman Management Group, which specializes in solving casino marketing, design, and operations problems. He has consulted for forty years to casinos throughout the United States and in England, South Africa, Monaco, Australia, Russia, Canada, and several Caribbean Islands.
Friedman was president and general manager of the Castaways Hotel and Casino and the Silver Slipper Casino in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip for thirteen years. He transformed them from perennial losers into super successes, consistently in the top of Nevada's highest profit-per-square-foot performers.

Most fascinating book. Very large. This is the #1 and only true source for this information on casinos.
Bill Friedman wrote this book which represents a lifetime of knowledge given only to casino owners at enormous cost - as a consultant on how to bring customers in, and how to maximize casino profits.

This is the ONLY book that explains how casinos truly work, and why they separate you from your money, but you still leave slightly happy, but dazed and confused. No coincidence. This book will let you understand so that you are not one of the lemmings that the casinos bank on.

You will never realize how you are being manipulated on many, many levels from your entry to the casino, to the ambient music, temperature, etc, etc.
It's all figured out. Some busboy doesn't set the temperature or choose the music you can just barely hear (if you try).
The casino owners all base their strategies off this book.

If you don't read this, you are doomed to lose at casinos, and you'll never even know what happened. You'll just think you had an unlucky day.

Designing Casino to Dominate the Competition is essentially an analysis of the design of casinos (location of tables, entrances, amenities, colors in the casino, amount of light, even ceiling height) and how this effects gamblers in their decision to stay in a casino for a period of time. Bill does a good job and gathering the data and presenting it in a reasonable, albeit subjective, argument on how to design a casino to maximize profitability.
