About the Author
Kay Bain Weiners passion for painting in oils, watercolors, and acrylics throughout the years has enhanced her appreciation of painting on glass with enamels. Kay first began glass enameling 38 years ago when she studied in New York under the guidance of world-famous glass enamelist Maurice Heaton. Her long friendship with Peggy Karr, another renowned glass enamelist, inspired her to write her 1996 book, Glass Enameling. A noted designer, Kay has worked in stained, fused, and enameled glass for many years and has undertaken numerous commissions for private residences and public buildings. She has been a demonstrator and consultant for Canfield Quality Solder for 20 years and is the president of Eastman Corporation and Eastman Publishing. Kay has taught hundreds of workshops in the United States and abroad. She is a presenter at various trade shows and conferences. She is the author of thirteen other books on glass art and design and has also written and produced several related audio and video cassettes. Her book Creative Designing: Innovative Glass Art won the 2003 Peoples Choice Award for Best New Product at the Art Glass Show, an international trade show. Kay is the innovator and developer of various techniques, tools, and color agents used throughout the glass industry.
