Importance of spiritual legacy is woven throughout.,

This review is from: Designs of the Heart: The Pattern/The Pledge/The Promise (The American Quilt Series 1-3) (Hardcover)
When I began to read this book, I couldn't put it down. You feel a part of the daily life of the character, and feel their joy and pain. Definitely a book to be passed around as well as passed down to generations of mothers, sisters and daughters. I can only pray that there will be a sequel soon to follow!

Brides of Montclair Series,
By Nancy Carter McGough (Cochrane, Alberta, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Designs of the Heart: The Pattern/The Pledge/The Promise (The American Quilt Series 1-3) (Hardcover)
The first Christian fiction book I ever read was Yankee Bride, by Jane Peart. Since then I have read all except one of the American Bride series by Mrs. Peart. This is a wonderful series, but Yankee Bride continues to be my favorite. In an updated release of the series, Yankee Bride was incorporated with Rebel Bride. If you can purchase an old copy of both, where they are not combined, I recommend that you do. The entire series weaves interesting characters and moral values. But the books do not preach. In other words, the positive expressions of faith come out of the stories themselves. Meet Rose Meredith Montrose in Yankee Bride. You will love her. And then you will want to read about the brides of Montclair before her and after her.

Overall Average Series,
This review is from: Designs of the Heart: The Pattern/The Pledge/The Promise (The American Quilt Series 1-3) (Hardcover)
Putting the brief profanity and questionable lifestyles of her characters aside, Jane Peart is a talented writer, and gifted.

Disgusted that profanity was used in a Christian book!,
By Anjalee Vincent (Tampa, FL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Designs of the Heart: The Pattern/The Pledge/The Promise (The American Quilt Series 1-3) (Hardcover)
I was very disappointed that profanity was used in the second book, The Pledge on pg. 351 and 378. That is totally uncalled for in a Christian book. One of the reasons I buy Christian books is to avoid profanity. I also found both book one and two to be sorely lacking in Biblical truth and application. Because of profanity in second book I will not read the last book in that series and am going to return the book expecting a full refund. I also will not recommend this author to any of my friends and will discourage the book store from continueing to carry Jane Peart's books.
