More About the Author

I write paranormal romances for Zebra Books, and I love it. Most of my books are about vampires because, I admit, I'm fascinated by them. I also admit I don't like most vampire movies. I'm not really into blood and gore in living color on the screen, although I do love the movie, Dracula, starring Frank Langella. I just close my eyes from time to time.

I also write historical romances as Madeline Baker.

You would think after 360 years as a vampire Gideon Marquet would be too clever to fall into a witch's trap. Now he sits locked in a cage, bound in silver chains, being used as Verah's own fountain of youth. He had long ago stopped killing humans to feed his need for blood, but since Verah nearly starves him while taking his blood, his hunger is now too great to stop being the monster humans fear.

But his latest dinner offering is quite different from the usual human fare given to him, she is a werewolf. If only he can keep his hunger in check before the next full moon, they might finally have a chance to escape this nightmare.

Kiya Alissano was just going out for a night with her friend, and ends up drugged and then she wakes to find herself being offered as a midnight snack to a hungry vampire. Although they are natural enemies, Kiya and Gideon work together to escape the clutches of the witch, but she is not willing to let her prize go without a fight. Kay and Gideon are on the run as Verah scryes for their location.

When they turn to Kay's pack for help, they are out of the frying pan and into the fire. The Alpha, Kay's father, wants her to marry into the neighboring pack, not running around with a vampire.

This story started off so good. The meeting of Kay and Gideon was interesting and their working together to escape. They are both attracted to each other so they stick together, even after Gideon realizes that the witch cannot locate him (as he is dead) and she is scrying for Kiya. He won't leave her alone to be found by the witch.

The story begins to lose my interest when decisions are made and things are done that don't make sense. Gideon decides Kay would be safest surrounded by her own people.

I love vampire romance stories and was intrigued by the beginning of this story. But, as in some other Ashley books, things go downhill about the middle of the book.

I just don't get it - the romance is great and then the details of the werewolf clan are of no interest. And, making matters worse, the heroine keeps getting either kidnapped or taken prisoner. Enough already!

Glad I found the book cheaply on Ebay. Not worth the price!

Kiya (a werewolf & daughter of an Alpha werewolf) first meets Gideon - the vampire hero - while they are both captives of the witch Verah. I liked how they both worked together to free themselves. The beginning of the romance is very flirty and like a fantasy for Kiya - the strong, sexy, wealthy vampire devoting all his time and attention on her and taking them to different places. After that, it's all about being on the run from their enemies - Verah, Kiya's restrictive and possessive father, & her evil arranged fiancé. I enjoyed how the setup was a little different from the author's normal setting and characters. I liked that Kiya, being a werewolf, was on equal footing with Gideon, and that Gideon saw her as an equal and respected that and let her fight her own battles. Although I did not like when Kiya was captured and made to submit by her enemy, I did like that in the end she was the one to face him in a fair fight and avenge herself. Gideon helped at the right times and backed his woman up but didn't demand to be in charge of every situation, in spite of being a strong Alpha male character. So many times, an Alpha hero will try and run roughshod over the heroine and impose his will and have things done his way. I loved that this was not the case with Gideon. He left most of the important decisions at the end of the book up to Kiya. I would very much enjoy seeing this author write more books about heroes and heroines who are both paranormal from the start of the story and being equal.

I liked it but there were times in the story when I was frustrated with her and I felt like she should suck it up and stand up for herself. Die trying instead of letting herself be controlled this story made me think, thank God for woman's rights an that we never have to be subject to man's whims or prearranged marriages again like it used to be. Other than that I enjoyed the story a lot it had slot of plots and action.

This book is borderline ridiculous. I lost the interest to finish the book after they were caught the 3rd time. I mean, REALLY??? 3 stars because I'm a fan of Amanda Ashley, but this one is on the way to the thrift shop donation box.
