Book Description

**Includes excerpts from Tracy's National Reader's Choice Winner TIDES OF PASSION and the Bestselling historical prequel TIDES OF LOVE!**

Come along for a story of holiday seduction that Romantic Times calls, "a searing passion...a sexy tale filled with great verbal repartee!"

The first rule when dealing with scoundrels? Never wager more than you are willing to lose.

Especially in matters of the heart.

Katherine Peters had loved Richmond's most notorious scoundrel -
and lost. She vowed to forget Tanner Barkley. And deny the ache in her heart.

Caught
between the devil and desire.

Tanner Barkley rejected a banking fortune for the newspaper
business. He hadn't planned on falling in love with the one person who held the
key to the most important story of his career.

Katherine's disdain is no match for Tanner's persuasive charm.

Or the love neither can deny.

"A bad boy...and a lively, independent woman. An excellent sequel!"

"This story packs a lot of heat."
--Reviewer Jill Nicholson

"Sassy dialogue! A charming story."

Dear Reader:

When I finished TO SEDUCE A ROGUE, I really had this great feeling about Adam Chase's best friend, Tanner Barkley. A bit cynical, secretive, sexy, in other words, the perfect hero! And who better to pair him with than the daughter of Charlie's somber chaperone in ROGUE? No daughter of such a severe woman could suffer fools easily.

And we all know how foolish a man in love can act.

Then my editor invited me to participate in a Christmas anthology and TO DESIRE A SCOUNDREL was born.

Katherine Peters is made for Tanner, and for the first time, I wrote about a hero who realizes this simple fact before the heroine! (If you recall, in ROGUE, Adam is clueless until nearly the end. Even Tanner tries to tell him the error of his ways. How sad is that?)

I hope you enjoy this holiday novella as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Happy reading,

Tracy

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost perfect December 26, 2011

Format:Kindle Edition
This book was about as perfect as a novel could get-great characters, story, conflict, but it was shorter than most. Also, at the start a little background about the story would have been nice because it took a while to figure out what the argument was about. I think it would have made the story flawless. Loved it though!

5.0 out of 5 stars Steamy, Sexy and fun! December 15, 2011

Format:Kindle Edition
Tracy Sumner is a fantastic romance novel writer. This novella is a sequel and I am looking forward to reading the prequel when it is released in Jan 2012. This would make a fantastic stocking stuffer for those folks in your life that love romance novels too. This short novel is well written, steamy and sexy and just like all of Ms. Sumner's work, it does not disappoint. If you are looking for another fantastic book by her, check out the Tides seriews. Tides of Passion (Seaswept Seduction Series)

4.0 out of 5 stars Short but well written and a fun read. January 5, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
To Desire a Scoundrel jumps right into the story with a confrontation between Tanner and Katherine. Tanner and Kathrine had a passionate relationship years ago that ended abruptly. Their pride and pain have kept them apart all these years but suddenly they are thrown together again. Tanner realized the mistakes he made before and desperately wants to explain himself and reconcile with Katherine. Katherine was heartbroken by the end of their relationship and doesn't want to revisit that pain.

I really enjoyed the characters and their struggle to love and trust each other again. This is a novella but I still felt that I got to know and care about them. It's a beautiful story packed with sexual tension, emotion and romance. Even though Sumner jumped right into the action, there was still enough back story to explain what was happening and I never felt confused or that I was missing part of the story.

I did have one major issue with the story, the time period. It is supposed to take place in the South US during 1852. That did not work for me, throughout the story I kept picturing it as closer to 1952 rather than 1852. I really struggled with that in the beginning and eventually just had to let it go and picture it my own way. Once I did that, I loved the story and was able to enjoy it.

This was the first I have read by Sumner and I was very pleasantly surprised. Other than the time period issue, it was a really well written and fun love story. I'll be honest, I have read enough works by emerging authors that I expected a somewhat clunky and awkward story. Wow, was I wrong! Sumner is a very talented author and I will definitely be reading more of her work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Was a nice holiday gift December 25, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
To Desire a Scoundrel is a sexy, short holiday novel that hubby got me! A very lovely and independent heroine, Kat Peters, knows she is in love with her Tanner Barkley, but like most men, he messed it up badly! And when he tries to win her back...well, I loved reading about it!

The secondary characters are intriguing, too. Ones to be further introduced in Ms. Sumner's next novel, if I'm not mistaken. This short novel is well worth the expense! Great dialogue and believable characters. And lovely, hot love scenes!

Merry Christmas!

If you like your romance novels to have strong protagonist and to be really exciting and sexy, this is one of the books that you should add to your collection today. This author has several books that you should also add as in my opinion she is one of the best romance fiction authors around. My favorite by book by Tracy Sumner is in her "Tides" series and it is called Tides of Love. Tides of Love (Seaswept Seduction Series)

5.0 out of 5 stars Fine Romance! December 15, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
This story makes great Christmas Season reading. It is so romantic right from the start and kept me spellbound for hours, matter of fact I finished it in two evenings. The book is part of a wonderful series--- I intend to read all of them right away. The author is very gifted, accomplishes just the right touch, and keeps her audience interested from the first to last page---highly recommended.

More About the Author

Tracy's story telling career began when she picked up a copy of LaVyrle Spencer's Vows on a college beach trip. A journalism degree and a thousand romance novels later, she decided to try her hand at writing a southern version of the perfect love story. With a great deal of luck and more than a bit of perseverance, she sold her first novel to Kensington Publishing.

When not writing sensual stories featuring complex characters and lush settings, Tracy can be found reading romance, snowboarding, watching college football and figuring out how she can get to 100 countries before she kicks (which is a more difficult endeavor than it used to be with her four-year-old son in tow). She lives in the south, but after spending a few years in "the city", considers herself a New Yorker at heart.

Tracy has been awarded the National Reader's Choice, the Write Touch and the Beacon - with finalist nominations in the HOLT Medallion, Heart of Romance, Rising Stars and Reader's Choice. Her books have been translated into German, Dutch, Portuguese and Spanish. She loves hearing from readers about why she tends to pit her hero and heroine against each other and that great novel she simply must order in five seconds on her Kindle.

Ciao!
