Sexy and Exciting, wonderful novel!,
This review is from: To Desire a Scoundrel (Southern Heat/Novella Two: TANNER) (Kindle Edition)
To say that I liked this book, would be an injustice to the author. I absolutely loved this book! The characters brilliantly came to life and the story-line was as sexy as it was original. I do not read enough anymore but this book makes me want to start reading all the time again. I first discovered this author by pure chance. I bought her other book on a whim, Tides of Passion (Seaswept Seduction Series), and started reading it without knowing really what to expect. After I finished reading the last chapter, I had tears in my eyes and chills running down my back. It was that good! And this book I just finished reading did not disappoint either, I loved every page of it. If I could give this book 6 stars, I wouldn't hesitate for a moment but I guess I'll have to settle for 5 stars. My favorite author of the year so far!

I totally love her novels! This is a shorter novel, maybe 1/3 of the norm, much longer than a short story. Tanner Barkley is the ultimate hero. Caustic and vulnerable, sexy. Definitely a bit of a bad boy. Katherine Peters is the love of his life. But they're estranged, a betrayal and falling out two years before, when they are forced to spend the holiday together in a small southern town. The dialogue, as usual with this author, was superb! Witty and fast-paced. And the love scenes? Oh-la-la is all I can say. You never get a bad love scene with Tracy Sumner. I read Tides of Passion and Tides of Love already. There is a sneak peek to both Tides book at the end of this one! I'm planning to read the sequel to this story in early 2012, according to Ms. Sumner's website!!! To Seduce a Rogue. Sounds good already!

This book was about as perfect as a novel could get-great characters, story, conflict, but it was shorter than most. Also, at the start a little background about the story would have been nice because it took a while to figure out what the argument was about. I think it would have made the story flawless. Loved it though!

This is an extremely sexy and romantic novel that will grip your attention from the first page. I really like this author and will continue to read her work as long as she keeps writing. The characters in this book are great and really make you feel like you are part of the story. The plot takes a lot of twists and turns that will have you on the edge of your seat. I had a hard time putting this one down and I am sure you will have the same problem.

Historical romance has always been a guilty pleasure of mine and novellas like this one are exactly why. This is a beautifully told tale that absolutely transports you into the world it presents. I sat down to read a couple pages and found myself instantly hooked. I ended up reading the whole story in one sitting. Sumner's prose is sharp and fresh, having the reader laughing, swooning, or biting on fingernails any time she wants. What a story! Definitely recommended.

To Desire a Scoundrel jumps right into the story with a confrontation between Tanner and Katherine. Tanner and Kathrine had a passionate relationship years ago that ended abruptly. Their pride and pain have kept them apart all these years but suddenly they are thrown together again. Tanner realized the mistakes he made before and desperately wants to explain himself and reconcile with Katherine. Katherine was heartbroken by the end of their relationship and doesn't want to revisit that pain.I really enjoyed the characters and their struggle to love and trust each other again. This is a novella but I still felt that I got to know and care about them. It's a beautiful story packed with sexual tension, emotion and romance. Even though Sumner jumped right into the action, there was still enough back story to explain what was happening and I never felt confused or that I was missing part of the story. I did have one major issue with the story, the time period. It is supposed to take place in the South US during 1852. That did not work for me, throughout the story I kept picturing it as closer to 1952 rather than 1852. I really struggled with that in the beginning and eventually just had to let it go and picture it my own way. Once I did that, I loved the story and was able to enjoy it. This was the first I have read by Sumner and I was very pleasantly surprised. Other than the time period issue, it was a really well written and fun love story. I'll be honest, I have read enough works by emerging authors that I expected a somewhat clunky and awkward story. Wow, was I wrong! Sumner is a very talented author and I will definitely be reading more of her work.
