just bad,
This review is from: Desire Untamed: A Feral Warriors Novel (Mass Market Paperback)
Kara McCallister is a heroine that has the obvious traits of previous paranormal heroines but without the personality. And Roar(yeah thats his name)is a one dimensional hero. I felt like this book was flat from the very beginning an struggled to even finish it. Its as if the story line was thrown together with no substance to help a reader delve in and believe in the world the author created. I love paranormals and thought a shifter novel would b e good reading. The Therians have unimaginative names like Roar the lion and Tighe let me think..um yeah the tiger. The story starts with Kara being told she is one of them and must come join them. For a human all her life she pretty much goes along with it with a minimum of fuss and questions. Not to mention she is grieving at the time. One minute the therians all love her and then for a brief time they all think she is the enemy sent to betray them(even though they found her and dragged her to their home) The story zigzagged all over the place and unfortunately I just couldnt believe any parts of it. I am taking a pass on the rest of this series as its been done before in a far smoother manner

Silly not sexy,
This review is from: Desire Untamed: A Feral Warriors Novel (Mass Market Paperback)
Kara is grabbed from her house one day by a "feral warrior" - the member of a shapeshifter society - and told she's meant to be their "radiant" - the woman their power depends on. The workings of this society are not very clear, nor is it clear where the rest of their race is. There's never any explanation as to how Kara ended up living as a human and it doesn't get any clearer in the rest of the book. There are, of course, bad guys that the feral warriors are defending the world from, and Kara is needed to consolidate their strength to help these warriors do it. Unfortunately, there is no depth to either the characters or their actions, so it's hard to care about what happens to any of them. All the warriors seem to have the same personality and no individual personal background is given for them. In order for Kara to take the role as "radiant", she has to go through some weird sexual bonding ceremony that seems more silly and creepy that arousing. Within a day after her kidnapping by these warriors, she's ready to be anointed with oil in assorted places on her nude body by a strange man (yeah, right . . .) and then is told she has to go through a ceremony where she has sex with a total stranger who is to be her mate while the warriors stand next to them as witnesses (they look away from the action but listen to them while maintaining physical contact- eeeeew!) While she protests at first she falls into it with surprising ease. A little more conflict would have been understandable and more interesting, but nothing like that happens. There is no real bonding between Kara and Lyon, her supposed love interest, so the sex is boring and repetitious. If you like this kind of thing, borrow it - but save your money.

Fell flat,

This review is from: Desire Untamed: A Feral Warriors Novel (Mass Market Paperback)
I felt like I read this book before (only it was better). Something was missing from this book, either that or I was expecting more from the story then what was actually written. I didn't mind the violence in the book (it was the best thing about the story line). And the part in the book where they think the girl is a Mage is almost comical. It immediately bought to mind the part in the movie UP where the kid yells out "SQUIRREL" and all of the dogs stop what they were doing to look for said squirrel. I'll read the next one in the series and hope that it is better than the first.

This review is from: Desire Untamed (Feral Warriors) (Kindle Edition)
I only paid $1.99 for the novel and for that price it was a bargain. Is it as good as a Black Dagger Brotherhood novel - no, but it was interesting at times and also a little weird.Pros: Had to think real hard on this one) - There were some good action scenes - Price was good - Some of the characters were interesting - I didn't hate reading the novel - Sex scenes were okay but you wouldn't need a fan or ice to cool off after reading them - World building was okay but nothing to really draw you in - No misspellings Cons: - Slow at times with a few "HUH" moments - Just fell flat - Character development was so-so - At times, the novel seemed to go all over the place without rhyme or reason - Some of the action and sex scenes were just silly - I know that in Sci-Fi/Paranormal novels, the reader is supposed to suspend belief - But, the author really needs to help us out by making the scenes at least believable within the context of the world created. This did not happen in some parts of this novel It was okay for the price but I do not have any desire to continue with the series - especially paying full price for any of the others.

The Therians, along with their animal counterparts, the Feral Warriors, have been protecting the uninformed world from evil beings known as draden for hundreds of years. They guard the Daemon blade in their possession because to lose it would mean giving the draden hordes the ability to free their vile leader, Satanan. The Feral Warriors' numbers have dwindled to almost nothing - nine warriors are all that is left standing between good and evil but they have not been unaffected. Their Radiant, the woman they need to channel their energy to shape shift, has died and without her they are unable to shift and these alpha males grow more animalistic with each sunrise. When the ritual they invoke to find their Radiant reveals her presence, Lyon, the leader of the warriors volunteers to bring the newly found Radiant home to their compound. Lyon, with the king of the jungle shifting in his veins, is surprised to find that the Radiant he and his warriors need has been raised as a human and has no idea how important she will become - especially to him.
Kara MacAllister's life changes in an instant when she finds a huge man in her home. Taking care of her mother, Kara grows more despondent as her mother's health worsens. She is having a hard time concentrating and is unable to settle her moods. Further angered by the striking man's adamant orders to leave with him, Kara doesn't know why her heart races or why just the touch of this man alone seems to calm her. With visions of lust, warriors, and seemingly the whole world's weight on her shoulders, Kara finally leaves with him - she needs answers, right? Only the answers she and Lyon find are far from what they both desire. With malevolence afoot and nine warriors barely holding onto their humanity, Kara must learn her duties as the Radiant to save not only herself, but the man and his band of warriors from succumbing to the malevolence that is trying to break free inside of them. Lyon, or Roar as his fellow warriors call him, is earthy and a true leader. Loyal and a steadfast leader, Lyon knows that Kara is his - and for that alone I loved him. Circumstances were not as they seemed and when Kara and he finally give in to the lust that has been raging through their bodies for days, the results were scorching hot. Each touch, each caress, and each kiss they shared combined their souls. Kara was an extremely strong female character. Thrown into a world she did not understand, I found her brave and curious. Her attraction to Lyon was undeniable, pure and simple. She loved her lion and with clear resolve knew that she had to help him. DESIRE UNTAMED is a strong first release to this tantalizing and animalistic series. Each character's name is a clue as to which animal they are able to become when shifted. The men strive to be close but each is so very different that I found it almost overwhelming to keep up with them - however, that didn't detract from my enjoyment of DESIRE UNTAMED. In fact, it made me want to read more of these interesting and unpredictable men. Just their names alone is enough to make a grown woman swoon and when you combine their animals with their human souls, I guarantee you won't want to miss a single word of DESIRE UNTAMED! DESIRE UNTAMED is the first book of Pamela Palmer's Feral Warriors series. The second and third installments, Obsession Untamed and Passion Untamed, are set for release within the next two months. What more can a paranormal romance ask for? Gritty, raw, passionate, and full of desire and unexpected twists and turns, DESIRE UNTAMED is definitely a keeper to be read over and over again! It was magnificent! Natalie S.

This review is from: Desire Untamed: A Feral Warriors Novel (Mass Market Paperback)
I'm a huge fan of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series and have been looking for a new series to read until the next release of the BDB book centered around Payne's story. I heard several recommendations for Pamela Palmer and given the book was $1.99 for the Kindle edition, I just had to purchase it.
The book has an interesting premise. The nine men in the book, are the last of the Feral Warriors, a breed of shape-shifting warriors that depend on a Radiant (a female "chosen") to help them shape-shift and hunt the Draden. The men are weakening without their Radiant and must find her. Unfortunately for them, when the leader of the Feral Warriors (Lyon) finds their Radiant, it turns out that she was raised human and has no idea about her heritage. The leader of the Feral Warriors falls in love with the Radiant (as she does him), and an interesting story ensues. All in all, I enjoyed the book. It was interesting, albeit a bit strange in some parts. For example, in order to ascend the Radiant to her position, she must be "taken from behind" by her mate while the other kneel at her feet. Seriously? A tad creepy. Furthermore, they must "prepare her body" and doing so means doing a few strange things in that department as well. I can understand having sexual scenes, but having them be a part of her ascension when her job is to allow them to shape-shift and hunt Draden was just a bit weird. Also, in order to get magic spells placed upon them out, they must have sex. It was just kind of... strange. It could also be kind of confusing. I understand that this is the first book, but there was so much being thrown out about how things worked, customs, etc that it was kind of hard to follow (such as Mages vs. Therians and their war, the ways Mages work, the exceptions to rules, etc). I had to go back and re-read certain lines over again to fully understand what the rules were. Maybe that's just me though. Also, I felt like while the love story was great and the connection was adorable, the characters could be a little bit more developed. For example, Lyon's past is only briefly touched on and the Kara's mother dies before ever getting to tell us about how she came to have a Radiant adoptive daughter. Some characters were not developed at all, however, I suppose we will learn more about them as they come (I understand it must be difficult to fully develop nine men in one book). Since there are nine characters though, it makes it hard to keep track of the character traits of each one. The ones I do remember were Lyon, Tighe, Jag, Vhyper, Wulfe, Hawke, and Paenther. The other two were utterly forgettable, and even with the ones I do remember, I get their character traits mixed up. On a positive note, the book was interesting and there was a lot going on. I enjoyed the romance aspect of the book and the sexual scenes (c'mon, it's Paranormal Romance so you want to know!) were pretty good. I will continue on in the series because I actually really liked Tighe's personality and the next book is his story.

It is very hard to find a series that is the same and diffrent afrom the typical sterotyped paranormal romance having to do with shifters. This was my first book from Palmer and I loved it. It was very diffrent than all of the other paranormal stories about shifters that I have read.I would recommned this book to anyone who likes paranormal romance and who is also looking for a new series to read.

Fantastic start of a new paranormal series,
This review is from: Desire Untamed: A Feral Warriors Novel (Mass Market Paperback)
Over night, Kara MacAllister's life is turned upside down when she learns that her recently deceased mother wasn't her mother and a stranger appears in her life, who tells her that she is the Chosen one. Her normal life as a pre-school teacher goes flying out of the door. Her existence is vitally important for the Feral Warriors. She can give these warriors the power they need to fight their enemies. A journey lies ahead of her with information and events she can hardly believe. Her life will be threatened by a force like she has never seen or heard of before. To add more confusion to her already chaotic life she feels attracted to Lyon and he is the only one she can really trust, but what will the future look like for them? Is there a chance for a happy end for the star-crossed lovers?
DESIRE UNTAMED is the explosive start of the brand new Feral Warriors series by Pamela Palmer. Ms. Palmer delivers with her first Feral Warrior book a story that will take you on an emotional rollercoaster ride from the first page till the end. It isn't easy to find your own place in the world of paranormal romance and to set yourself apart from the works of other authors, but Ms. Palmer did a great job. I was so fascinated by the story and the characters that I wasn't able to stop reading, so I stayed up really late till I finished it. Her characters are multi-dimensional and you will absolutely fall under their spell. For me it was hard to choose my favorite warrior. Fortunately we can look forward to many more Feral warrior books, especially Obsession Untamed and Passion Untamed, which will be released back to back in August and September, so we don't have to wait too long for our next Feral Warrior fix. I can highly recommend this book to everyone who is looking for something new in the world of paranormal romance, I know you will love this book. Ms. Palmer is really an author you want to keep an eye on and I can hardly wait to read her next book.

A CK2S K2 Recommended Read! With Desire Untamed, Pamela Palmer has started a brand new dark fantasy series that explodes with action immediately and keeps going full speed ahead until we reach the conclusion. Kara MacAllister's life is irrevocably changed one dark night when she is stolen away from her terminally ill mother's side into a world she never knew existed. Suddenly a strange man is telling her she is immortal and the salvation of an ancient race of shape shifting warriors who will die if she does not take her place in their world. And that odd "stretch mark" that recently appeared? It's the mark of the Therians, declaring her their new Radiant. When hideous creatures attack her the same night, she sees just how dark this new world is. Lyon is the leader of the Feral Warriors and the only one who was able to track down their new Radiant, who's power will give the warriors back their ability to shape shift and give them the power to fight their enemies, the Mage and the Draden. Now the Draden are growing in numbers and the Mage seem to be on a mission to release their greatest enemy, high Daemon Satanan and his followers. If Kara doesn't accept her place in Therian society soon, the Feral Warriors will not have the power to defeat their enemies. He never counted on the Desire Untamed he would feel for Kara. Desire Untamed is such an intense book full of danger, passion, and magic that my synopsis cannot even come close to doing the full story justice. Also, since it is the first book in the new Feral Warriors series, we are subject to a lot of world-building, but Pamela Palmer does this brilliantly. There are no information dumps here, which drive me crazy in paranormals and urban fantasies. Everything is explained in bits and pieces throughout the book to the heroine, Kara, since up until Lyon comes and kidnaps her she has no idea what she truly is. Desire Untamed is a dark story, no doubt about that, with an ancient war between the Mage and the Therian ongoing for thousands of years. They joined forces once hundreds of years ago to defeat Satanan, giving up much of their respective powers to the cause, but hatred runs deep. Each side hopes the day will soon come to give them the edge to defeat their enemies forever. We have some shocking revelations come about here that turn the story upside down and give us a very good indication of what is to follow in future books in the series. Kara and Lyon's passion for one another defies everything Lyon has believed for centuries. This leads to some intense conflict as they fight their attraction when all they want to do is claim their mate in each other no matter what it may do to their cause. This tension just adds fuel to the fire and when these two finally discover a way to be together, we know the result will be a conflagration intense enough to rival the Radiant's fire. I fell in love with all the Feral Warriors (especially Tighe, Paenther, and Jag) and am impatient for the next two books in the series. I am excited to know that we will get Tighe and Paenther's stories in Obsession Untamed and Passion Untamed respectively. © Kelley A. Hartsell, June 2009. All rights reserved.
