DESIRED is Book #5 in the Bestselling series THE VAMPIRE JOURNALS. The series begins with TURNED (Book #1) which is now available as a free download!
In DESIRED (Book #5 in the Vampire Journals), Caitlin Paine wakes to discover that she has once again traveled back in time. This time, she has landed in eighteenth century Paris, an age of great opulence, of kings and queens—but also of revolution.
Reunited with her true love, Caleb, the two of them finally have the quiet, romantic time together that they never had. They spend idyllic time together in the city of Paris, visiting its most romantic sites, as their love grows ever deeper. Caitlin decides to give up the search for her father, so that she can savor this time and place, and spend her life with Caleb. Caleb takes her to his medieval castle, near the ocean, and Caitlin is happier than she ever dreamed.
But their idyllic time together is not destined to last forever, and events intercede that force the two of them apart. Caitlin once again finds herself united with Aiden and his coven, with Polly and with new friends, as she focuses again on her training, and on her mission. She is introduced to the lavish world of Versailles, and encounters outfits and opulence beyond what she ever dreamed. With never ending feasts and parties and concerts, Versailles is a world of its own. She is happily reunited with her bother Sam, who is also back in time, and having dreams of their father, too.
But all is not as well as it seems. Kyle has traveled back in time, too—this time, with his evil sidekick, Sergei—and he is more determined than ever to kill Caitlin. And Sam and Polly each fall ever deeper into toxic relationships, which just might threaten to destroy everything around them.
As Caitlin becomes a true and hardened warrior, she comes closer than ever to finding her father, and the mythical Shield. The climactic, action-packed ending, takes Caitlin through a whirlwind of Paris’ most important medieval locations, on a hunt for clues. But surviving this time will demand skills she never dreamed she had. And reuniting with Caleb will require her to make the hardest choices—and sacrifices—of her life.
“DESIRED is very well balanced. It was the perfect amount of words and a great follow-up for all the other books. The characters are very believable and I really care about what happens to them. The introduction of a historical figure was quite interesting and left a lot to think about this book.”

I don't normally write reviews for a book unless it's really good or really bad. I've read all the books in this series and really loved the first three. Book four started showing Caitlin's whinny side and most of the book was made up of descriptions of things; cities, houses, covens, etc. The author really got carried away with detail. Also, I'm beginning to believe that Caitlin has a mental problem, either that or she is just really stupid. Many times in this book (on the same page), she feels one way then the next second she feels differently then bounces back and forth till you get sick of reading it. I had to stop 4 different times in this book and read another book because it just got to annoying. For an example, in the paragraph on the page that I have open right now, the author uses the word, probably, in this paragraph 5 times and this happens all through the book. Lots of words are used wrong. I use to think this writer was so great, but I'm really disappointed in the last 2 books. It's probably a good book for someone who doesn't read a lot. Someone who doesn't mind LOTS of description, misuse of words, and characters who can't think for themselves and you want to climb into the book and shake them silly. I was really disappointed.
I'm about halfway through book 5 here, and I am archiving it to come back to when I am broke and out of books to read. I can read past the grammatical errors, misspellings, and gross misuse of words because I'm intelligent enough to extrapolate the author's intent. However, how many times does Caitlin have to find herself dead wrong about Caleb before she finally figures out she's just a whiny bitch?? I mean, seriously, she's lived through transformation into half-breed vampire, losing her virginity, then a full turning, killing lots of bad guys and her boyfriend, who she then gave up her unborn child and potentially her life to travel back in time for...hasn't she grown up at all? The writing style in these books sounds as if my teenage daughter wrote it, and while I know this series probably has a target audience of young adults, is there an EDITOR IN THE HOUSE? How did this crap get published?
I love stories that continue on to more books - but I hate when the last one ends and you have to wait for the next one to come out. This series just keeps getting better and better! I could not put this one down and am anxiously waiting for book 6!
I have been a fan of the series ....but right now I just want to kill Caitlin ....could she be any more annoying? I mean why is she whining about every single thing that Caleb does? And come on, getting angry because he wanted to see his son????' (what a b**ch!!) She makes the most stupid decisions ever, even when she knows what she should do she just gets too angry or too emotional and that's that. Argghhh I just do not want to keep reading, the story it's way to descriptive and repetitive. I am going to finish the book, but it is really taking me all my willpower to do it. Really hope the next book is better and that the main character is likable again.
So this series started strong for me. I was feeling the characters, the story line, the pace of it, etc. Then around Book 3, things really started to go south.
I like to finish what I start, and really wanted to finish the series, but it just became too painful. I finished Books 3 and 4, but then couldn't make it through Book 5. I just had to turn my Kindle off and walk away.
The story line was too repetitive, the characters were fickle, Caitlin (in particular) became extremely annoying, and the punctuation errors became too unbearable.
I'll be finding another series to read now. I really tried, but sorry, Morgan, Vampire Journals turned out to be a flop for me.
well, like others, I was waiting for this book to come out... I am more than half way through it, and I'm not sure I want to continue. It's the same events ...same emotional childish turmoil that Caitlin goes through, again...and AGAIN: Grates on your nerves after a while. You would think that being a young woman, adapting to changes by now, going through battles, that she would have at least matured a little bit: it is a wee bit annoying. So you find yourself wanting to smack her: if most of you haven't already in the previous books. I wish the author would broaden their horizons a bit and change up the story a little and maybe invest a little more time in spell checking and grammar: just a thought. Sadly, that is not the case in this book. Its a constant back and forth with caleb, and everyone else, like the previous books. So over all , pretty disappointed -_-
Well, I don't normally write reviews before finishing a book, but I am just struggling to even get through this one. I can't believe I am the only reviewer that thinks this but apparently I am; or maybe the book just gets incredibly better. First of all, I cannot stand Caitlin right now! She is just a whiney brat in this book! She is really showing her age and immaturity here. As I am reading this, I am thinking, WOW, can you just shut up for a minute and think about someone other than yourself! The whole relationship between Caleb and Caitlin, in the part I have read so far is just so frustrating, and quite frankly, makes me want to throw up! Am I having a moment???? I don't know, but I loved the other books. Also, waaayyyy too much descriptive narrative in this book, which I think is unnecessary, and I found myself skipping alot to get to the dialogue. Well, I will keep going and see if it gets better and maybe I will add to this review later.
