Fabulous book!, February 1, 2009
This review is from: Desk Pilates: Living Pilates Every Day (8215) (Paperback)
This handy book is a wonderful guide for stretches and exercises you can do to work out the kinks from sitting too long at a computer or hunched over a desk. It takes Pilates off the floor and into daily life, encouraging sitting tall and doing everyday things better. The pictures clearly illustrate each movement, and the directions are very easily understood.
This author has written other books, all focusing on mindful movements, full breaths, and positive intentions. I have found the books using a foam roller for exercises and massage techniques to be very helpful. In each of her books, the descriptions and photographs are excellent.

Clear and concise, August 9, 2009
This review is from: Desk Pilates: Living Pilates Every Day (8215) (Paperback)
I purchased this Pilates book out of interest and was not disappointed. It is a very thin volume but the photographs of the exercises are well done, the instructions are clear and concise and it explains the principles of pilates core stability very well. If you prefer mat based pilates then this book is clearly not for you but it is great if you want simple seated or standing exercises which you can fit into your work day.

Great everyday resource, March 4, 2009
This review is from: Desk Pilates: Living Pilates Every Day (8215) (Paperback)
This book, and others by the author, allows me to have my own workout studio no matter where I am.
Desk Pilates really does allow you to easily "live Pilates every day". It offers a wonderful selection of movements, and since each takes such a short amount of time they can be conveniently peppered throughout your day. Not only does it build on the work I do in "more typical exercise settings", but the exercises give me a mini-break and result in renewed attention and concentration when I turn back to my work.
The books are convenient and packed with dozens of exercises that support my goals of having a stronger core, improved posture, more effective breathing, toned but relaxed muscles, wider range of motion, and a sense of well-being. The massage activities are so helpful in working out knots and tight muscles. All the books have great introductions, clear descriptions, and instructive photos. They're so practical, and would be valuable in any work and home setting.
For the Pro-Roller books, I have the same kind of roll that the author uses (Pro-Roller by Orthopedic Physical Therapy Products - optp.com). In addition to being a very useful tool for the exercise and massage activities, I sometimes just relax on it.
