Somewhat Good, Somewhat Bad,

For a book about desktop design this book is not very attractive nor "designed" well. At times it is cumbersome to read because the page layout is so different from page to page and they try to cram too much information onto one page. Also the graphics are difficult to see because of the quality of the printing. It is like reading a photocopy, only it's 330 pages long!As for the content, it is a bit outdated in some instances, such as the examples, and the general discussion of the book. However, there are some truely timeless lessons that can be learned from this book. The basic principles of desktop design remain the same, although the techniques and tools have changed. You will definately get the fundamentals out of this book, and if you're lucky, maybe you'll pick up a little on what not to do.
