This unit flat out performs. Once you have a very basic knowledge of Linux or use the software to set a static address you are well on your way. When I first got this unit I just threw in an old 250GB HD I had laying around and setup some iSCSI LUNs for my VMWare environment in a test lab - very easy to do and no issues encountered. I then migrated to a RAID1 (250) and now a 2TB RAID1 all without having to pwr the unit off. For giggles I tested NFS and joining it to my domain testing access by windows users who were oblivious that they were connecting to a NAS appliance. Media Station works without a hitch for both Windows and MAC clients. Tested and confirm that the Amazon S3 feature works flawlessly with most current firmware. I highly recommend this to any serious home user or a Small Business who has needs for iSCSI and or file storage. The Backup Exec recent additions make me realize that the folks at QNAP have their fingers to the pulse of what folks want and they constantly work on improving the unit. I not yet had to call support, so I cannot speak to how their support is, but their documentation is very concise and easy to follow. I love the fact that this unit is both Citrix and VMWare Certified and to date I have tested putting an MS Exchange 2007 CCR database and SQL 2005 and 8 databases all running at the same time with no major spikes on the CPU or memory on the unit or slowing in performance. I will note that the SQL db was a mere 10GB db that I threw a few thousand rows at it to grow it to that size - Exchange was also kept small, 20GB - but like i said, small business. I plan to recommend this to a few of my clients and I will post my findings\reviews once I have done so.

This unit kicks but, have it up and running for over a month, not a problem. this unit is used as server for my small business, and i now fell more secured because of the RAID capebelity that it offers. only thing i would like to note is that your network router must be in DHCP mode for the network to reconize this unit. you will be able to change back to static ip after and only afeter you have installed the software, and also at this point you will be able to change back to static ip and also asssign a static ip to the unit.

This NAS was much faster (and more expensive) than my other NAS (ReadyNAS). For me, speed was the most important chriteria.

This device was recommended by a friend and I am grateful for it. It is reasonably priced, incredibily easy to setup, has tons of capabilities as well as an intuitive interface, and it runs quietly.
