De sol in simply incredible!!,
This review is from: Desol (Audio CD)
Well I happened to be privy to a pre-release of this album. I absolutly love it! The only thing better than the CD is seeing them live. The drummer George Saccal is a nice addition to the group. Can't wait for the next release because my CD is wearing out! A fan, Damian

The Latin rhythms on this album just overtake you. The music and the lyrics are intelligent and full of life and love. I keep playing the disc in my car over and over since yesterday. It is a true fusion of latin music and classic rock that makes you smile and move. What a great new band!

Let's start with who deSol is not.
Not Santana, although you will hear some very classic Santana echoes in their work - and Soto's got it in him to take a bigger, better lead part. Not Los Lonely Boys. COMPLETELY different genre (and not from Tejas), although many LLB fans are fans of deSol. Not Ozomatli, although there's that feel in some places. Who are they? Guys having a great time performing catchy music. If you are comfy with switching from Spanish to English on the fly, you'll be right up there with these guys. Mix of Latin rhythms here with some complex construction. Top three songs: Karma (gets radio play - pretty) Amazed (chord progression is unique; pretty piano work) Chica de Miami (if this don't get you up and dancing, you're DEAD!) Everything on the album is worth listening to, though. Will see them in Austin soon and will add what a live performance is like. Add this one to your collection!

How can you not love a bunch of guys out to make some real quality latin/rock/jam music? Every one of the band members has talent out the wazhoo. The only criticism I can make is that they toned it down too much for the CD. It's real chill, pre-game type music but when you see them live all you wanna do is grab a fine lady and dance till you wear her sexy latin legs out!! Buy the CD, but more importantly, if they're ever playing near you don't even hesitate to buy a ticket (and make sure you have a date!)!!!!

I've seen deSol live a handful of times and they always put on an energetic show. I have their independent label CD and was excited to get their newest release from Curb Records. The music is very energetic and has great rhythm. If you like the latin music sound you will like deSol. The guitar has a Carlos Santana sound (by the way they do some awesome Santana covers live), but has it's own unique sound too. The lyrics are a mix of spanish and mostly english. I'm looking forward to their next album and seeing this band get really big.

Heard these guys on the radio, then saw them open for Los Lonely Boys in Hampton, NH. WOW!!! Energy, talent and the perfect appetizer to a LLB show. You will not be disappointed.

Not your typical Asbury Park,NJ band,

Based out of Asbury Park, NJ deSol describes themselves as "Rock & Roll with a Latin soul.". These guys can definitely rock. You have to in order to survive the club scene in NJ. Having toured with Los Lonely Boys, The Wailers, and Blues Traveler amongst others. They appeal to a wide crowd. And this disc should as well Song in mostly English with some Spanish phrases thrown in. The last 2 tracks are Spanish only tracks. Songs Blanco y Negro, Chica de Miami, Bandleader, Karma are the best songs on the disc I think. I feel deSol is a vastly under rated band that hs been overlooked for quite a while.
