I think they are one of the best punk bands around today.
Michael B.
Pretty deep lyrics about stress and being upset which I'm sure a lot of people can relate to.

Had this for about a week now and I think this might be their best record. I can't think of anything I would change. It's even a step up from the last album. If you buy this, try to get the bonus track because that is great too. Great summer album. Somehow, this band makes being miserable feel good. About f---ing time Mr. Brett got his head out of his a$$ and signed a band worth a s***. Only took him a decade.

Off With Their Heads are a rare breed of band in that they have been able to pump out three full length albums, several EPs and countless split 7"s worth of music centering around depression, angst, disaffection, isolation, and despondency without ever once having a lyric that seemed forced or ingenuous. The band lays all of this over classic three chord pop punk that calls to mind memories of 90's era Lookout bands as well as hometown chums Dillinger Four, The Arrivals, early Against Me!, Leatherface and other No Idea alumni.

Yet, one can see songwriter Ryan Young beginning to work through many of the Issues presented on Hospitals and From The Bottom, and aiming his acerbic wit at topics less explored on earlier albums. This is perhaps best displayed in the song "Their Own Medicine" which rails against those who victimize others much the way "Your Child is Dead" does on the 2006 Hospitals album. Also featured are several love songs, but with a twist that is with out a doubt classic Off With Their Heads self a facing and debasing double speak.

he album builds to the penultimate track-- "My Episodes" --A slow heartfelt ballad in which Ryan Young express a desire to move past all the depression, addiction, and heartache that has plagued his life for the past five years. There is a brief sense of closure to that chapter of Off With Their Heads' existence. It is then ripped away by the final track "Clear the Air".

"Clear the Air" is an anthem that more or less sums up Off With Their Heads's purpose and outlook. Off With Their heads is an outlet leading to catharsis for Young and his audience. Young never asserts that things suck now, but they will get better, not that they might get worse. The feelings are in the moment.

I agree with the other reviewer that this is probably their best stuff yet. And hopefully they'll get even better. I think they are one of the best punk bands around today. I really like the last song. The only not-so-great thing I can think of is the lyrics. They're all about being miserable, so it feels kind of one-trick. Still giving it 5 stars because I enjoy the whole thing, and the negative vibe is cathartic.

P.S. I saw them live once so far. They play REALLY loud.

I was 50/50 with this band. After listening to the tracks on Myspace and talking to a few people I figured I would give them a chance. I've had the album for about a week now, it's def not bad but also doesn't blow me away. Pretty deep lyrics about stress and being upset which I'm sure a lot of people can relate to. The guitars are loud, but I keep finding myslf thinking the drums are pretty weak. Kind of basic beats. I guess I'm used to bands like The Flatliners or Dear Landlord that have faster/killer fills. I think if the drums were a little more to it, it'd give a little something extra to the music as the guitars are mostly just loud and straight forward.
I wouldn't write this band off though. They are solid and worth checking out.
UPDATE!
These dudes are now one of my top bands! I love them, took a while to grow on me but they rule! Their new album home is amazing! Check them out! I kept my orginal review above to show you shouldn't give up on a band right off the bat.
