Jilted..Broken Down..Timetravel..Rescued by Desperado...,

All those things considered, Catalina Lane is still having a hard time understanding what just happened. Last she'd known she'd been left at the altar and had driven hell for leather down a deserted Arizona highway only to blow a gasket on her precious Mustang and had been forced to walk to the nearest gas station...in heels and her wedding dress...not to mention her running mascara and windblown hair. Only to find that she was somehow thrown back in time...one hundred years!Suddenly a surly but very sexy looking Desperado type looking man rides up on his horse and offers to get her to the nearest town. Was he the infamous Kid Creede she'd read about from 1896? This was too much, even for her! Thinking her a crazywoman, Jackson Cady reluctantly takes her to the nearest town where he is going for a job. Bad goes to worse as she is mistaken for a prostitute promting Jackson to use the rest of his gold to rescue her from a greedy madam at least for a week until she finds her way out of the mess, but he soon learns she isn't that easy to forget. Saddled with a crazy and very naive woman who babbles about the twentieth century and claims her Mustang died but is getting 'fixed' soon, Jackson realizes he is in danger from a murderous enemy who wants him dead and the notieriety that goes with killing Kid Creede. She knows something he doesn't and it sends chills down his spine...is she mad or merely telling the truth? Soon he realizes he doesn't care...all he wants is to be with her and keep her from harm and the evils associated with being by his side. Can one change history? Can her love for him save his soul? Can she make him believe in magic? She sure will try... Very funny and romantic. The timetravel was very believeable. The only thing I would change is the fact that the romance moved too fast for my tastes and enjoyed the humor so much I would've loved it to last to the very end. But alas, there needs to be some drama to balance the scales and Ms Jones does this nicely. I look forward to picking another of her books out... Tracy Talley~@

It Was the Absolute Worst Day of Her Life!,

Catalina Lane had just been jilted, almost left at the alter! It is true that there was no real physical attraction between her fiance, Wilson Ross, and herself, but they were good friends and had agreed that that was a good basis for marriage. Until that spineless coward told her he couldn't marry her just as she was about to walk up the aisle! She couldn't even yell at him because he had tears in his eyes! Furious and humiliated, Catalina swept out of the church and into her Mustang convertible without looking back. Several hours later, she was broken down on a little two-lane Arizona highway in the middle of nowhere. Resigned, Catalina picks up her satin and lace wedding skirts and starts hiking in her ridiculously high heels. Luckily, there is a gas station a few miles down the road and she is able to get assistance.On her way to freshen up in the restroom, she meets a strange old Indian man who gives her some cryptic advice and a strange crystal. Catalina shrugs off the weirdness and decides to go for a walk while she waits for her car to be towed. She is strangely drawn towards some red rocks in the distance, but, before she can reach them, she is caught in a small whirlwind. When she can see again, she notices that the gas station is gone and she is all alone. Catalina is unsure what to do so she decides to sit and wait a while. A short time later, she spots a lone cowboy heading her way and tries to get him to take her to the gas station. He seems to have no idea what she is talking about and quickly decides that Catalina must be crazy, beautiful or no. Still, Kid Creede decides that he cannot leave her out in the middle of the desert, so he takes her to the nearest town, since he is on his way there anyway. By the time they arrive in the small mining town of Braxton, Catalina is sure that she must be in the middle of a movie set. After all, why else would everyone be dressed in such authentic costumes and wandering around what just had to be a movie set like its 1896? Deciding to play along, Catalina asks Kid to help her get work and he immediately takes her to the local saloon/brothel, where the madame there is all too happy to take Catalina off his hands. Catalina is excited to have a bit part at first, but she soon comes to realize that there is something not quite right here... Thinking there must have been a mistake, Catalina tells the madame that she cannot have sex with these men, she's still a virgin and has no idea what she is doing! The next thing she knows, Catalina is chained to a wall while men bid to take her innocence from her! Catalina is relieved when Kid bids for her and wins, knowing she is safe in his presence. However, as Catalina realizes that her whole adventure is not a dream or a movie, she remembers that Kid Creede died in a gunfight, his body riddled with a dozen bullets - in the town of Braxton! Scared for his life, she tries to persuade Kid to leave town - and to take her with him, of course. Kid wishes that Catalina would stop telling him fairy tales, after all he has seen and done, does she really think that he will think less of her? While Kid tries to ignore his growing attraction to Catalina, she plots to save his life and falls head over heels in love... This was a great time travel romance. Catalina was a very adaptable heroine, strong, but not abrasive and she had a few of her own moves to protect herself from strange men. Kid Creede is a great gunslinger - he has his own code of honor and is very vulnerable underneath all of layers of black, I can definitely see why Catalina fell in love with such a sexy man! The secondary characters were well developed and believable and the author had some great villains in the story, too. The book is well written and an enjoyable read, I just wish there had been a little more development of the romance between Catalina and Kid. Still, well worth checking out!

I don't like Western settings usually but I love time travel romances. (I found this one via suggestions from the romance discussion forums). This was sweet and it hit the spot. I actually laughed out loud several times and that is always a plus! The h is intelligent and very human, the H is an attractive character and a good foil. I enjoyed it thoroughly and Qaletaqa was my favorite character aside from the h&H. Five stars from me :)
