Book Description

April 13, 2010 Executioner (Book 377)

Infiltrating a Dutch human trafficking organization turns deadly when two undercover agents are tortured and shot. Protected by a complex infrastructure and ruthless lawyers, the businessmen behind the crime are untouchable under international law. But Mack Bolan isn't about to play by their rules.

Entering Holland alone, Bolan heads to Rotterdam where he is prepared to seek out his target and destroy the corrupt organization piece by piece. The leaders of the group think they are invincible, but with the lives of women and children at stake, they are about to learn what it's like to be hunted by the Executioner.

This review is from: Desperate Cargo (Executioner) (Mass Market Paperback)

The Executioner #377, April, 2010, was written by Mike Linaker. Mike is no new comer to the GOLD EAGLE line of books having written several dozen books in this continuing saga.

I have been reading these adventure books since 1986, with most of the books being average to a little better. Every once in awhile one of the books soars well above the 'average' category. This book DESPERATE CARGO not only does that but the book should be used by all other authors as a template for a route to excellence in the Bolan saga.

When I received the book in my bi-monthly shipment it really didn't appeal to me, the subject matter of human trafficking. It is happening but I don't especially want to read 186 pages about it. I want Mack out there fighting other wrongs. Wrong, this is a very well written, a very interesting book, and after ingesting hundreds of these types of adventure books over the past 20 years, for me almost a perfect book. In fact it is one of the best Executioner books I've read in a long, long while.

I'm not going to go into much detail with this one: the action takes place mostly in Holland with some action later in England. A large group headed by one man is involved with kidnapping men, women, and children making huge profits selling them out to various people for various purposes worldwide. He cares only for himself and his high style of living. Blind eye to any suffering. Bolan enters the picture to shut down this operation, no one else has yet been able to do that. Plot sounds usual and just 'ok', right, wrong the way Mike has written this book will keep even the most avid fan of Mack Bolan hanging in there. This a page turner and one a reader regrets having it end. Again for me, this has been one of the most enjoyable Bolan reads in quite awhile. This one may eventually reach a 'classic' level where the Executioner line of books is concerned.

It should be an example to any and all authors for their use to reach the level of a well written, interesting book that reaches the 'excellent' level for this continuing saga. I cannot praise Mike's book enough, this one is great, folks.

Semper Fi.
