5.0 out of 5 stars Really enjoyed this book
I had a "lightbulb moment" when I read this book, specifically the part about some of us being right-brained, and some left. I always just assumed I should be (would be) organized, because I am Type A. But that's really not how I'm wired...not what "fills me up"...I'd much rather paint a wall or make a scrapbook than organize a closet.

A lot of this you've...

1.0 out of 5 stars disappointment
Not many books will tell you that God says your husband has the ultimate say in all family/household decisions. This one will. It goes down hill from there.
I read a minimum of 1 book a day (non-fiction and fiction!) and I've never felt strongly enough to write a review on any website. This is a first (and hopefully a last!)

A lot of this you've heard before, but I think the author gives a lot of good illustrations and provides much-needed perspective on several issues. I also like the tables that specify problem areas with solutions.

I would love to be able to afford a Family Manager consultation, but on a budget, this is a good substitute.

I recently read this book as part of a neighborhood book club. Everyone in the group loved this book.

The book starts by discribing the importance of "Family Manager." It gives a 2 page list of all of the many jobs that must be accomplished in a home to keep it running smoothly. It gives great ideas on how to get your family invovled. This book then moves on to various topics that are important in the home. These include: Finances, organization, personal time, time management, meal planning, family respect, long term goals, etc. It helps each family to develope their own "Mission Statement."

I have already used many of the ideas from this book in my home. My kids love having dinner time jobs and have created a job chart to assign duties such as cooking, setting the table, clearing, and loading the dishwasher.

I used the methods from this book to clean my closet, my daughter's room, and the family room. Our home is a happier place to be.

This a great book with easy to use ideas to improve family life. Make sure you keep a notebook handy while you read!

Thanks Kathy for a wonderful book.

Lots of good tips for getting your house in order. She also makes the reader feel like getting some control of your household is doable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kathy Peel has it Right for All Families, August 19, 2009
This review is from: Desperate Households: How to Restore Order and Harmony to Your Life and Home (Paperback)
Kathy Peel has it together. God first and then your family. All of us need to get the order right and then things will fall into place. Don't believe the world's lie. Women should look to their husbands for leadership, co-author your ideas for the family, but allow your husband to take the lead and encourage his leadership.
