Pro-fur propaganda disguised as a novel,
By totalhorsenut (Bellingham, WA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Desperate Measures (Jennie McGrady Mystery Series #11) (Book 11) (Mass Market Paperback)
I picked this book up at a library sale when I saw it had an animal rights theme. When I got around to reading it, I was somewhat surprised to see that it actually attempts to defend the barbaric fur trade. See, the biblegod gave us animals to use. That means it's perfectly okay to kill thousands of them every year just for a frivolous fashion accessory. Fur farmers are just nice folks who happen to kill animals for a living. It's not as if they could choose to do something else, right? As for animal rights activists, they're all unhinged "terrorists" who wantonly commit murder and mayhem just because they love attention. Not because they actually care about animals or anything like that. Give me a break. If the author had bothered to talk to some animal rights supporters, instead of just the fur commission, she'd realize most of them are sane, rational people who don't want to see animals suffer unnecessarily. (And in this day and age, fur is absolutely unnecessary!) Believe it or not, most of them care about people, too. Those activists that do commit illegal acts--a VERY small percentage--go out of their way to make sure that no humans will be harmed. And another thing, activists use red paint in their anti-fur demos. Paint, not actual blood. That means there is no killing animals or robbing blood banks. This trash wasn't even worth the 50 cents I paid for it. It's gone into the recycling bin. Maybe it can be reincarnated into something more useful.

The best so far!,

This review is from: Desperate Measures (Jennie McGrady Mystery Series #11) (Book 11) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is the best Jennie McGrady book I have read! It all starts when Jennie and her best friend Lisa are going up to an old friends mink farm to visit for the weekend! Jennie is also excited because Scott is there and she can't wait to see him! When they get there, though, a mystery has been released! Someone has let the neighbors minks loose, not to mention other things! This is the best I have read! I do wish that her dad had been in it more! He has just been introduced and he has barly been in the books!

Jennie McGrady's latest mystery is one of my absolute favorites. This book is the most spell-binding, spine-chilling mystery I have ever read. "Desperate Measures" is a gripping booked laced with romance -once you've started it you'll be on the edge of your seat until the last page is turned. If you enjoy love and friendship in the midst of adventure and danger, then drop by the nearest Christian bookstore for Patricia H. Rushford's new Jennie book-it's an absolute must!
