Great 80's underground vibe... good chill out music,

Well, to help out the other reviewers, if you want "into the groove", go get Madonna's music. I see their point, but I think that this music is fantastic and I'm so glad that it's in print! Having the hit songs on this album would detract from it's continuity, I feel... It's a great album, if you were attached to the background music in the film.

What gives Amazon? Wrong song samples!,

I know the music to Desperately Seeking Suan by heart I've seen it so many times. Very good music I will say! However all the music clips here at Amazon are not Desperately Seeking Susan! I think they might have put the wrong clips in or they could be from the Mr Right movie. So if you listen to the 5 or so samples on this detail page realize the music is not that boring!!!

I have watched this show at least 15 times so I know the tunes by heart. The songs listed on this page are NOT the songs from the movie Desp. seeking susan.
Can someone get these changed???? I did go to freeMP3.com and heard the same tittled tracks and THOSE ONES are the real deal. I LOVE the tunes from this movie!!

This music compilation is from Thomas Newman. Thomas Newman has done background music for a very long time now. The green mile, Meet Joe Black, American Beauty, Fried Green Tomatoes, Road To Perdition, Finding Nemo, The Horse Whisperer, The people Vs. Larry Flint, 6 feet under theme song, Little Women, Lemony Snickets, Shawshank Redemption, Cider House Rules,.... MANY MANY MORE. He is a top selling (BACKGROUND MUSIC) artist. His music is brilliant, Alot of variety when it comes to composing. BUT if you're looking for madonna's music (which he has helped her compose songs before too!) this isn't the soundtrack... Thanks!

Finding 'Urgent',
This review is from: Desperately Seeking Susan / Making Mr. Right Original Soundtracks (Audio CD)
I have been a Jnr. Walker fan for years (his music is in the background in the hotel scene at the start of the movie and it's called 'Urgent')However I have been trying to trace the album of his where this track comes from. It's called 'Blow the house down'(Motown Records). I have not been able to get this on vinyl or cassette. ( if anyone in the world knows where I could obtain a copy please e-mail me - cd501@yahoo.com. The soundtrack album is a great disappointment as there is no major songs from the film that people can relate too. The reason I wanted to buy this album is mainly for the Jnr.Walker track. Therefore my search must go on. CD

Not Bad,

This review is from: Desperately Seeking Susan / Making Mr. Right Original Soundtracks (Audio CD)
For an insturmental album, it's not bad. It's too bad that none of the other songs from the movie like "Into the Groove" are on the album. Why are we stuck with the "Making Mr. Right" soundtrack? They have should have included the other songs instead. How about the song that is playing in the background when Rossana and Aidian are in the diner ordering blueberry pancakes? They dropped the ball on this one. I still like it though. The best part is the theme Madonna struts to whenever she is on screen. I'm not sure the name of that song, but you'll be able to pick it out and say, "Oh yeah, that's Madonna strutting down the street." And may I add, Rosanna Arquette and Aidian Quinn rule! Madonna's pretty good too. If you are a big fan of any of these people, get it. Otherwise, save your pennies. Take care.

Definitely Not Susan!,

I too love this film and the original score by Thomas Newman. I've spent the past hour searching and finally found the correct scores from the film.
I concur that someone needs to make repairs to the music heard for the "Desperately Seeking Susan" portion of this soundtrack; they are incorrect. Great flick - great score! My rating is based on the true origanl score and not what is heard here! :)

This soundtrack excludes Madonna's hit song,
By A Customer

While this is hailed as "Madonna's film debut", the commercial soundtrack sucks. It doesn't include any of the songs people heard in the film, like Run-DMC's "Sucka MC's" and Madonna's "Into The Groove". Instead, it compiles all of the trashy "New Wave-influenced" instrumental background music heard throughout the film. If you want to hear "Into The Groove", I suggest you either obtain Madonna's 1987 "You Can Dance" album, or her 1990 "Immaculate Collection" album. Several different versions appear on these Madonna records."And you can dance...for inspiration..." |
