Book Description

December 5, 1997
Desperately Seeking Self is a guidebook for people with eating problems that uses an unique approach - a conversation between a client and therapist - to call on the spiritual self which is in all of us. For when we awaken to our true natures, life takes on precious meaning, and we become our own agents for healing and positive change. This conversation answers such basic human questions as: Why do I have this illness? Who am I to think that I deserve better? How will my life be different when I awaken to a deeper level? What exactly is a transformation?

5.0 out of 5 stars A unique contribution to eating disorders literature, December 3, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: Desperately Seeking Self: An Inner Guidebook for People with Eating Problems (Paperback)
For 10 years I was lost in the world of my eating disorder and then in 1988, I met Viola Fodor, a psychotherapist. She spoke to me about many things, such as true self, inner wisdom, meaning in life. What she told me helped me to turn my life around and heal completely from my eating problem. She's now encapsulated the essence of her teachings in this remarkable book, which doesn't talk about acting as if you're okay or positive affirmations. No, this book deals with the process of real profound change. The kind that happens from the inside out. The kind that leads you to your true self. It tells you how to tap this essential process (and we all have this capacity) so it stays with you forever, guiding you through the most difficult challenges in your life, including an eating problem.

I have read the first edition of this remarkable book by Viola Fodor. I highly recommend it to all those who wish to learn more about themselves and how to deal with their inner feelings. Having an eating disorders is not the only reason to seek out this book. All of us can be guided by it. I look forward to seeing the next edition.
