Excellen book and translation,
By I. (Texas) - See all my reviews

We bought both versions for our kids so they could read it before watching the movie. The whole family read them and we all loved the story. The Spanish translation is very well done. I highly recommend both books.

Our continuing education class is reading this in Spanish. The characters (mostly mice and rats) are well developed and hilarious. Despereaux has a serious identity problem. The book provides lots of new vocabulary and expressions for our wider exposure to Spanish in use without being a grind. The story would be charming in any language. It well deserves its Newberry medal.

This is a cute story for kids, yet kept my interest as a 54 yr old learning Spanish. I would call the level an intermediate with simple thoughts and grammer structure, but challenging enough to help me improve my vocabulary and Spanish comprehension. I'd welcome more books by this writer at this level.

Great Bedtime Story!,

This review is from: Despereaux (Spanish Edition) (Paperback)
I bought this because my son and I had read "Because of Winn Dixie", and loved it. Great for bedtime reading...chapters are not too long, so we can read 2 a night and still get to bed on time. The story is engaging and my son is hooked.

This is an absolute must have for any book lover's library!
I read it in a few short hours! I couldn't put it down. My 14 yr. old son read it and concluded with the same opinion.

I didn't notice that this page is for the SPANISH version of the book. Thre's only one tiny reference in the ISBN section, where it says language, SPANISH. So I just wasted $10 because it's too much hassle to return it. (Note: it looks like they have added "Spanish version" to the title, sometime after I wrote the review. I can't change the one star I originally gave it for the Amazon page. The book itself was lots of fun. Rather quirky, but I like the author's writing style a lot.)
IF YOU WANT THE ENGLISH VERSION OF THIS BOOK, LOOK FOR A DIFFERENT PAGE!!!!

Book was in good shape although one of the face pages had been removed and this was not advertised that I recall.
