About the Author

All things beautiful are my passion. I enjoy anything that a masterful hand creates. Writing is one of those and cooking is another. They both captured my interest and imagination at a very young age.

The "Mama's Legacy Series" was a pleasure to create because it allowed me to tap into my interests and to publish cookbooks that my audience can use and enjoy time and time again.

I began my love affair with cooking when I was very young. As soon as I could reach the counter top my mother gave me free reign in the kitchen. I was allowed to mix and mix and mix, building my masterpieces. They were nothing more that wild combinations of flour, sugar, spices and water; but, to me it was creating at its best. When I finished with each endeavor, I tossed it all and happily cleaned up the kitchen, looking forward to the next time. My creative spirit in the kitchen had taken root.

My first adventure in writing came my senior year in high school when I decided to take a writing correspondence course, which was very forward looking for the time. I experienced the first thrill of putting pen to paper, and all these years later it is still one of the most pleasurable activities in my life.

If I had my druthers, I would write all the time. In fact, that is pretty much what I do because I have reached a point in my life where it is now possible.

In addition to the "Mama Legacy Cookbook Series" I have two other cookbooks, "Cake Making Made Easy" and "Candy Making Made Easy." They are not only cookbooks; they provide detailed instructions on how to make cakes and candy. The cake book includes 60 delicious cake recipes and the candy book includes 17 starter recipes so the instructions can be applied immediately.

I loved writing both instruction books, especially the candy book, because it brought back so many wonderful memories of candy-making with my family on those long summer nights when I was a young girl.

My daughter has recently gotten into cooking, so I went online to find a recipe book she'd enjoy. I didn't really want a baking book. I searched for desserts and found this one. It was the table of contents that persuaded me to look deeper, but it's the simplicity of the absolutely delicious recipes that sold me. And the photos are perfect. They really show the thing we're making--not some studio shot. Of course, there's baking involved in many of the recipes, but it's easy. And thanks for adding the nutritional information. This is perfect for my Kindle in the kitchen.

I have a huge sweet tooth and love to experiment with desert recipes. My mouth watered as I browsed through the contents of this book as there are so many delicious recipes.

There is a list of recipes for cakes, (my favorite), cookies, pies, puddings, toppings and even dessert specialties.

With Nancy's cookbooks the first thing you will notice is how well presented they are. This book has clear images of each dessert as well as a neat list of all the required ingredients.

The directions are concise and easy to follow and as an extra bonus there is also a nutritional facts chart for each recipe.

I certainly recommend this book to all who enjoy making and eating desserts.

I love this book. While I am a dab-hand at knocking together a main meal my desserts had the appeal of deserts! (And probably tasted about as good!) So, because we had bought most of Nancy Wilsons other books I took the plunge and bought this one as well. And guess what? I can now throw together a decent pudding. I'm still not an expert, but at least my stuff is edible now. The recipes are easy, and the author has included helpful tips for each recipe (i.e. how to store and serve desserts without sacrificing the taste). This is a great book for hopeless novices like me or for experts (Like my wife!)

In my family, baking is a tradition. My father worked as a professional baker before he went to work in the steel mills. I haven't baked in years but after reading Nancy Wilson's bakery book, I'm anxious to try several of her recipes. The book is very easy to read. The list of ingredients and directions are easy to follow. I loved the descriptions of the various deserts and their photos. My favorite description was for Chocolate Pecan Pie. The notes and recipe tips will be very helpful when I try out my first recipe. These make it easy for the beginning baker and for those of us who are returning to baking to have a successful experience. Deciding which recipe to bake first will be difficult because Nancy includes lots of childhood favorites.

Floating Island or Ile Flottante in French, is my favorite dessert and you cannot find it in restaurants now.
So happy to have this recipe, it is straight forward and true to the original, and not gussied up, which it does NOT need, Imho.
Yesterday I saw a package of the exact right kind of Lady Fingers, and remembered there was an English Trifle in my new cookbook!
I bought the lady fingers and today made a small version of the Trifle recipe from this book and it is delicious. I like the addition of macaroons.
I am going to make a large one for the crowd on Thanksgiving.
So many yummy recipes here, each one nicely laid out and described.
What a wonderful legacy your mom and others have left you!

The recipes are not complicated and most of them are for dishes that I would like to make. This book would be good for teaching a young teenager how to cook. Some of the recipes are for things I have enjoyed over the years but never thought to make. The directions are clear and easy to follow. Most of the ingredients can be purchased at any grocery store.
