Cute desserts, Japanese style, products not always suitable for kids,

This book may be most interesting as an intercultural novelty.
The book, wholly in English but, obviously, originally from Japan, contains a basic sketch of cooking "how to"s and sets about making Japanese riffs on American/European standards. Some are closer than others; the basic cookies look promising, the cheesecake, on the other hand, is a different beast from any I've ever seen. The final products have a distinctly Japanese look to them. The book heavy relies on liquoring up the baked items, which is odd and inappropriate given the audience. |
