Yet another awesome album by Mae!,
By
This review is from: Destination: B-Sides (Audio CD)
This album has a lot of re-mixes and live songs off their debut album, Destination: Beautiful. This Time Is The Last Time (Wave Remix), Sun (Acoustic), Giving It Away (Acoustic), Goodbye, Goodnight (S.M. Remix), This Time Is The Last Time (Live) all originally where introduced in Destination: Beautiful. I really enjoy the acoustic version of Sun... its very awesome.
Their music has mature a lot since then, and musically it sounds a lot better and just runs smoother. I loved Destination: Beautiful, but I have to say I like this album even better. A must have if you're looking for something to listen to that that is soft, yet not boring. That being said, some of the beats are a bit repetitive, like in Destination: Beautiful.

Despite what some say about this being a "Cookie Cutter" emo band, I must disagree. This CD speaks for itself, and is worth every one of the five stars I gave it.

Destination: Awesome,

First, I would like to say that Destination: B-Sides is NOT Mae's next CD. Mae's next CD is due out next March. Nonetheless, Destination: B-Sides is an awesome CD. While you may not love the song right away, they are good songs just to relax to and you may very well find yourself tapping your foot to the beat.

This is the first CD I've ever had by Mae, and I must say...I thought to myself..."where have they been all my life?" Melodically wise, they are amazing, the guitars in this band are phenominal. The singer has a really different, school boy cute voice...if that can explain it. My personal favorite song is "Tisbury Lane"...listen to that one, and if you love that song, you will love every other. I'm gonna go buy out all of the Mae CDs now...so I gotta run...

this is definately very different from all of the other Mae cds. while i love everything by Mae, this is abslolutely AMAZING to say the least. my ultimate favorite song on the cd is "awakening". its really one of the most beautiful songs i have ever heard!! the song has alot to do with hope and strength and the listener can't help but get drawn into it all. thats goes for all of the songs on Destination: B-Sides...they touch you in a way that only beautifully composed music can. do yourself a favor and get this cd...its beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good music. Awful vocals & lyrics.,

It is clear that these guys are a group of talented musicians. Their instrumentation is rich and beautiful and this is showcased best on Futuro [Live] and the beginning of Sun [Live]. It's a shame that they have to start singing because it all falls apart when they do and becomes so sugary awful and pedestrian that it is difficult to bear. The lead singers vocal quality is straining and nasal. The lyrics reveal a lack of any real poetic maturity which would be forgivable is the singing wasn't so bad. Perhaps they will grow into a good band or fade into obscurity.

This cd was asome. If your a mae fan you will definitale love it. It is notciably a bit lighter then destination beautiful but thats what i think they were going for. The acoustic stuff is asome and even the wave remix of this time... will grow on you. IF you like this cd try listen to the Postal Service or any death cab for cutie cd.

ok, make that 4 1/2 stars...the only reason this does not get 5 stars in my book is because two of the tracks appear twice (they are different versions - i.e. - live, acoustic or remix) but they are still amazing. six tracks are variations off of Destination: Beautiful, the other four are new/unreleased tracks. if you like Mae, you will love this album. buy it!
Here's the track listing: This Time Is The Last Time (Wave Remix) Suspension Sun (Acoustic) Tisbury Lane Awakening Futuro (Live) Sun (Live) This Time Is The Last Time (Live) Giving It Away (Acoustic) Goodbye, Goodnight (S.M. Remix)

Great songs, short cd.,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Destination: B-Sides (Audio CD)
I was very pleased and very devastaded with this album at the same time for two very simple reasons: #1 they released this album too early for a b-sides album so it turned out short and #2 they put suspension (which was to be on "the everglow") on here. What they have on here is amazing but its whats lacking that i have a problem with.
