Very nice journal, organized, feels and looks great!,
This review is from: Destinations: A Travel Journal (Leather Bound)
When I first looked at this journal in the box, I was afraid that it would have the feel of vinyl. But it has a great leather feel, not exactly soft, but smooth with a bit of texture. The red is not a fire engine red, but it's closer to a cherry color. And the journal could be used by a man or woman (there is nothing especially feminine about it). The pages are organized into different sections - pages for an itinerary, for flight and hotel information, for information about shops and sights that you see, as well as about 30 additional lined pages for events and reviews. There are also pages in the back on which to tape your tickets and momentos. I thought that was a neat idea. I wouldn't say that the travel information included is very helpful, at least not for my Italy trip. But the journal is the perfect size for a 2 week trip, maybe even up to a four week trip. At the end of the journey, it will be a very nice keepsake! I'm looking forward to using it. I'm also purchasing one for my mother. The only drawback to this journal is that there is no ribbon bookmark.

This book contains all that is neccessary to log on one's trip to any corner of the globe. It offers a wide variety of informations that could be very useful in many situations. It also features a pocket for receipts and tickets. It looks as though it is a prop from an old movie and gives the feeling of classic style.

Wonderful -- a great way to preserve travel memories,
By
This review is from: Destinations: A Travel Journal (Leather Bound)
I took this with me on a trip to Istanbul (my first time out of the country). It's styled to resemble journals from the golden age of travel, when it was de rigeur to tour the Continent when one came of age. Old-style illustrations and "filler" pages, including rules for shuffleboard are charming.
There's a pocket in the back for ephemera (tickets, receipts, photos, etc.), pages for autographs or sketches, what you've purchased, people you met (and their addresses for correspondance), and lots of space for journaling. It was a pleasure to write in, and was a great way to preserve memories for a once-in-a-lifetime trip.

I've Seen Better,

I am recently back from my second lengthy trip in as many months. For the first trip I used Abroad: A Travel Organizer and Journal Abroad: A Travel Organizer and Journal
For the second, I decided to try Distinations. The reviews are correct about the look and feel of the book, it is quite nice. However, the format leaves much to be desired. It is much more of a momento than something to help organize your trip. The Abroad journal does a much better job at helping to keep your flight information, hotel address and confirmation numbers, car rental information, etc organized. It also has pockets to store receipts or tickets and gives ample space for journaling.

Great Travel Journal,
This review is from: Destinations: A Travel Journal (Leather Bound)
I bought this journal as a gift for a couple going to Europe for a two-week vacation. It is the best travel journal that I found while shopping for one to purchase. It is the perfect size and contains lots of pages for recording those memorable events during a trip. It has maps and other bits of information one would need, especially for an international trip. This journal will be a wonderful keepsake for those who enjoy keeping notes about their travels and experiences.

The best Travel Journal,
By
This review is from: Destinations: A Travel Journal (Leather Bound)
My daughter received this as a gift a couple years ago as going away present on her first trip to Europe. She is now on her 2nd trip and I decided to pull her journal and buy a new one for this trip. Two of her friends were going to join her, so we started researching how to purchase another journal. Turns out that none of the travel journals we found compared to the manner in which this is designed/formated. The girls enjoyed reading the first one and were absolutely adamant about getting the same. After looking in stores, and online, I pulled the old journal, and googled it and found it at Amazon. The flexible cover, the size and the different sections allow for a traveler to carry it everywhere and quickly catalog information about places, restaurants, incidents, etc.

For a great Escape to Remember,

This travel journal is one of the best that I have come by. It is perfect for cruises because it gives great information and shuffleboard instructions. I especially like the cover. If you want something that doesn't scream "Tourist", then this is the best travel journal you could buy!

Travel Journal,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Destinations: A Travel Journal (Leather Bound)
I bought this for a gift to a first time international traveler. I checked it over before I gave this as a gift to make sure it had all the fun things you would expect such as time zones and ideas within the journal to help remember her journey. I thought it was great. The cover was soft but strong so that it would easily stuff into luggage without being torn apart. Plenty of room to write about different adventures along the way. Well worth the money.

This is an excellent gift for anyone taking an extended trip. It gives them the opportunity to recorded places visited and memories of them. It gives them a place to put small mementos of their journey and the book itself is slim and compact for easy packing.
It has been a most welcome gift and useful to me in my own travels as well.

Great for transatlantic cruise or western Europe,
By Katlanta (Atlanta, GA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Destinations: A Travel Journal (Leather Bound)
This is one of the nicer travel journals I've bought. It has medium-weight, medium-tooth paper (great for ballpoint pens) and a beautiful, luxurious binding. It really takes on the style of early-20th-century travel, the golden age of ocean liner travel, with instructions on how to play shuffleboard and how to communicate via semaphore -- it has a nice, historical, sophisticated look and feel to it. I used it for a trip to England, and liked it so much I bought a second one.
However, I have yet to use the second one. Most of my trips since the England trip have been to destinations in Africa, Eastern Europe, and the Americas. It's so perfectly set up for a transatlantic cruise or trip to western Europe, that it just doesn't seem to fit my other destinations. It has maps of the North Atlantic and western Europe so you can plot your journey if you go to one of those destinations. It has lined pages for your travel writing, and separate blank pages for sketches, souvenirs, etc. I thought the maps, travel tips, etc. took up more room than they needed to -- I would have rather had more writing pages -- but people who have a better balance between journaling and enjoying the trip may find the writing space quite adequate. In short, it's beautiful, and very nicely done. I wish they would make others like this -- maybe in a different color, for different modes of travel, or for different destinations. I think it would make a nice gift. |
