5.0 out of 5 stars long live deathmetal!
This album, is so very heavy and fast with great growly vocals and excellent riffs and blast beats that blow you head clean off!

1.0 out of 5 stars Fleshgrind is so meh...
Fleshgrind's debut album "destined for defilement" should've been good, due to the fact that its their debut, but sadly it just sounds like all of their other albums. Suckss. Dont waste you hard earned money and go listing to some real music...Skip this garbage.

If you like suffocation or broken hope you'll love these guys. This is how death metal is supposed to be

5.0 out of 5 stars Fleshgrind's debut CD, March 30, 2003
This review is from: Destined for Defilement (Audio CD)
Fleshgrind is one of the better death/grind bands in the scene
today. Since this CD came out, they have undergone a lineup change
which hasn't weakened them at all. DESTINED FOR DEFILEMENT is
an angry CD featuring some great riffs and a band that's
very together, able to stop on a dime at a moment's notice.
All the songs on here are great; my favorites are "Whacked"
"Burning Your World" and "Litany Of Murder."

5.0 out of 5 stars classic..., May 21, 2010
This review is from: Destined for Defilement (Audio CD)
this is a classic...I have been into similar types of music (death, grind, black, doom, sludge, thrash etc..) since late 80' s and there was nothing similar when it was released back in 97 and that still holds.

Music is very simplistic/ catchy yet makes you pay attention with ever changing dynamics and pumps you up...drummer and loose almost Autopsy "Mental Funeral" resembling drumming is the key indregient on top of slam riffs..

- if you are beliver of slam genre - I strongly believe this is where it began..(nope not devourment..)

1.0 out of 5 stars Not so good., May 18, 2005

Contrary to what a previous reviewer said, liking suffocation will not make you like this. Suffocation is one of the best death metal bands of all time, you should look no further in the genre if you don't own Effigy of the Forgotten, Pierced from Within, and hopefully the rest of their albums. Comparing this to suffo is a complete joke.

Seeds of Abysmal Torment is a very solid death metal cd that I can definitely recommend. As for this and their new one, not quite. This is so boring I really can't listen to it all the way through. The first two songs have cool parts to them and I'm liking the album...after that, just plain boring. I guess the guys had two good ideas and decided to make a 9 song album out of it. This is extremely generic and not at all noteworthy. The riffs are not at all technical, this guitar player is only mediocre. A mediocre guitar player can still make great music if the writing skills are there, but sadly this album has almost no groove either. The drumming is nothing remarkable, your standard predictable fair of blasting and double bass. To top it off the lyrics are just terrible. I am not big on disgusting lyrics in the first place, but these are not even well written. The lyrics hardly make sense, it sounds like they were written by someone with the intelligence of a 5 year old. An extremely disturbed 5 year old.

I don't know what it is with this band, seeds of abysmal torment really was pretty good. I would pass on this, unless all you care about is that the music sounds brutal. In that case go ahead and buy this, it's definitely brutal. Then again, a spoon down a garbage disposal sounds brutal...are you going to listen to a recording of that?
